Full Job Description

To be an Operations Manager for the community team, developing and delivering, community development, low level mental health intervention and mentoring services for young people 11-25 who are vulnerable and classed as at risk. Additionally, to manage a team of youth workers and mentors, support assessment of referrals, provide safeguarding support to the team and maintain relationships with other professionals.,

  • Lead on the development and implementation of new services within the community team

  • Lead on the development of community youth work and partnerships to deliver services to young people.

  • Lead on staff development for the community team

  • Lead on safeguarding for the community tea

  • Engage in development of new programme funding proposals.

  • Manage staff teams to undertake their roles and achieve outcomes.

  • Provide regular supervision and support to staff teams, including safeguarding support.

  • To liaise with funders, commissioners, and key personnel to manage programmes and projects.

  • To undertake reflective and best practice sessions with staff to enable development and continuous improvement.

  • To ensure all referrals are assessed and allocated to the appropriate programmes.

  • Manage waiting list and ensure all young people and professionals are communicated with.

  • To raise the profile of the programmes to ensure young people are referred and professionals are aware of services offered.

  • To attend meetings with funders, partners and agencies across Gloucestershire to ensure we meet the needs of young people.

  • To ensure a high-quality service is delivered at all times for young people by your team and wider staff.

  • To ensure where appropriate young people are referred to other YG and IB programmes to improve their outcomes and meet their needs.

  • Develop knowledge of additional opportunities and support networks that may benefit the development and progression of young people.

  • Use a youth worker and/or mentoring approach to encourage and maintain young person engagement with all support services.

  • Assist in the development and delivery of additional funded projects that support and engage young people.

  • To ensure all programme SLA's are met

  • Oversee Upshot (YG's database) for projects, and ensure all outcomes are recorded, reports submitted and safeguarding accurately recorded.

  • Collect and review delivery data ensuring projects are meeting KPI's and project outcomes.

  • Provide monthly and/or quarterly reports to funders showcasing the outcomes of the projects and evidencing that KPI's are being met.

  • Work within budgets as agreed with the line manager.

  • Take responsibility for the health, safety and welfare of young people. Produce risk assessments as required and ensure safeguarding of young people.

  • Ensure that risk assessments and health and safety of all programmes and staff roles within programmes are managed.

  • Be an active part of Young Gloucestershire's safeguarding team and take responsibility for the health, safety, and welfare of staff and young people with specific safeguarding duties., Maintain accurate records using YG's data management systems.

  • Keep up to date with current affairs and maintain an awareness of resources that may be of benefit to Young Gloucestershire

  • Ensure servicing and maintenance of equipment as appropriate to your role.

  • To provide safeguarding support to staff across the organisation

  • Maintain a teamwork approach to all aspects of work.

  • Complete essential training

  • Experience of working with young people facing challenges

  • Able to provide leadership in a challenging environment.

  • Experience of managing multiple tasks

  • Experience of managing staff teams

  • Experience in managing a budget.

  • Experience in planning, organising and completing community-based projects.

  • Knowledge of the local community, voluntary organisations, and agencies

  • Experience of delivering services to young people in groups and one to one

  • Experience of managing health and safety including completing risk assessments

  • Experience of motivating and inspiring disaffected young people to achieve their potential.

  • Knowledge of Safeguarding practices and procedures

  • Experience of working in mental health

  • Understanding of support systems for young people experiencing mental health difficulties in Gloucestershire

  • Experience of sourcing and building relationships with key partners and stakeholders from the VCS, statutory and business sectors

  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to engage with people at all levels.

  • Excellent organisational and administrative skills

  • Good written and verbal communication skills and the proven ability to write reports and deliver presentations to a variety of audiences.

  • Effective time management, including the ability to prioritise and manage a varied workload.

  • The ability to work on own initiative and to an agreed action plan.

  • Basic IT skills including experience of Microsoft Office programmes and databases.
