Our team delivers high quality services, with a strong customer service ethos and a positive culture that promotes the wellbeing and health and safety of our people. As a professional driver team leader you will lead a team of up to two crew members. You'll have a strong team ethos motivating your own team as well as working closely with other team leaders and crews to ensure efficient service completion.

Day to day you'll be responsible for the completion of collection rounds and team health and safety, providing feedback relating to collections and any issues encountered, using the in-cab device and assisting with bin loading. You'll have excellent customer service skills dealing with our residents in a polite and professional manner and will be able to explain our services confidently.

You will have a current valid HGV Class 2/LGV C and current CPC card. Ideally, you'll have experience of stop-start HGV driving and manoeuvring in residential areas, have worked on collection services before and used in cab technology such as Bartec Collective. We'll pay for your ongoing CPC and training which will all be done during the working day.

You'll have a sound health and safety knowledge of the industry, and will ensure that safe systems of work and incident reporting procedures are always followed.

If you're looking for an improvement to your work life balance, look no further. Here our drivers may start early but they also finish early (usually 2pm), giving you time to spend with family and friends or enjoying your favourite activities. We will require you to work seven bank holidays and one Saturday per year.

We know that services collecting waste from residents and businesses are changing, and that providing 'Green Skills' for our people is a future investment. Our culture is all about getting the best out of our team by providing a range of benefits to everyone. We expect good teamwork, and focus on being accountable, respectful, and inclusive and achieving our goals.

Newcastle-under-Lyme is on the up! We've already started our transformation, however, we still need to find better ways of doing things because we are determined to do the very best we can for our communities.

Our historic Borough is a place of marked contrasts. We are the home of a world class University at Keele, a leading light known internationally for its research and sustainability record, which stands side by side with former mining communities including some which register amongst the most deprived areas in the country. Our Borough is also a mixture of urban centres, affected by some of the same social issues facing our neighbouring city, Stoke-on-Trent, but also outstanding rural landscapes in our less populated villages. Our plans and priorities aim to address the needs of all our communities.

Grade 6 - £26,421 to £28,770 per annum, We reward our people with a competitive range of benefits including; access to the local government pension scheme, minimum 23 days annual leave and 5 extra days after 5 years' service, flexible working and family friendly policies, local and national high street discounts, green travel scheme including cycle to work scheme and electric car salary sacrifice, free employee 24 hour employee assistance and counselling services, flu vaccination service and health checks plus development and training opportunities.
