Full Job Description

  • Be responsible for the patient's clinical journey along agreed patient care pathways, supported by evidence based practice.

  • Be responsible for the effective and efficient operational management of the department.

  • To provide the highest standard of safe, effective and compassionate care through the effective use of evidence based practice in line with agreed local and national standards and the NMC Code.

  • To provide a continuously improving service in line with the clinical governance framework, Trust objectives, and the NHS performance framework.

  • To provide clinical leadership, expertise, advice and support to the nursing and multi -professional team to facilitate the effective delivery of care to patients at all times.

  • To support and continually develop staff to ensure they have the appropriate level of skill, knowledge and competence to meet service/specialty requirements.

    We are seeking an experienced individual who is highly motivated, enthusiastic and passionate about leadership and the provision of high quality care to this group of patients. The successful candidate should be ready to further develop the service in collaboration with the wider emergency and acute care team.


  • Working closely with the Consultants, SDEC ACP team and Service line management team including the Matron, you will contribute to the appropriate assessment and treatment for this specialist group of patients.

    You should have substantial experience with nursing acute medicine and emergency medicine patients and will be educated to degree level.

    You will need to possess excellent communication, interpersonal skills and must be competent with using key trust systems (HealthRoster, SafeCare live and NerveCentre). Above all, you will be a compassionate leader with the ability to support staff while ensuring a high quality and effective service.
