Full Job Description

Primary responsibility for the delivery of Capital Projects in UK/EMEA region, with immediate emphasis in delivering the reimagined 1CP corporate headquarters site.. The role will require project leadership and commercial management to project activity in region and will ensure compliance with all necessary Reporting and Governance requirements. The role will have no internal direct reports only outsource service partners and will be responsible for the deployment and management of an extensive supply chain.
o Commercial
o Responsible for the delivery of the Capital Investment plan for the region.
o Responsible for the delivery of the 1CP project, a 1m sqft refurbishment of Barclays existing headquarters in Canary Wharf. This will be a reimagined site to house Barclay Colleagues for the next 20 years and include new trading, banking, amenity and public environments being developed in a live building.
o Responsible for the delivery of key financial targets against the regional Capital Investment Plans through the development of a strategic innovative approach to market which challenges market norms.
o Support championing the benefits of a global approach across all asset classes with particular focus on trading floors, corporate HQs and call centers.
o Responsible for identifying and developing opportunities for improvement across the regional Capital Projects and benchmark both the service and the effectiveness of the function on a regular basis

Customer
o Responsible for ensuring robust regional engagement with key executive stakeholders within Barclays to gain support for both strategic investment programmes and transformational change in the category.
o Responsible for defining regional Capital Projects material that can be used to inform senior leaders within the business of key risks and challenges relating to the category.
o Responsible for the development of an engagement tool kit relating to regional Capital Projects which can be cascaded to both the regional leadership and specialist functions within CRES.
o Responsible for ensuring that Capital Projects standards and policies are applied on a regional basis.
o Responsible for ensuring overall alignment of strategies with business strategies and priorities between the Stakeholder Businesses.

Leadership and Teamwork
o Support the Head of Corporate Real Estate in driving the global agenda.
o Responsible for providing leadership and guidance in region to ensure an integrated and global approach to Capital Projects.
o Responsible for the region's strategic supply base.
o Responsible for representing Barclays in region on industry and subject matter groups and committees to enhance understanding of Capital Projects and to ensure regular visibility of external best practice.
o Support work on major BAU projects as part of multi-disciplinary teams, as required from time to time.
o Provide opinion, guidance, personal challenge and growth to support specialist staff development and retention within the organization.

Management and Decision Making
o Support positioning all business cases via the relevant governance boards with emphasis on value creation or return on equity in order to support programmes of change and or investment.
o Responsible for ensuring that operational control and delivery of the regional complex and core projects are always in support of and compliment Barclays' business operations.
o Responsible for ensuring that all Capital Projects services are executed to minimise risk to the Bank's business operations.

Risk and Control
o Ensure that all activities and duties are carried out in full compliance with regulatory requirements,
Enterprise Wide Risk Management Framework and internal Barclays Policies and Policy Standards
o Responsible for working with the Risk Management team to ensure focus upon statutory compliance across all service functions.
o Responsible for supporting and adhering to Group and functional Governance activity.
o Responsible for driving the Group Sustainability targets.
o Responsible for driving disability awareness in the regional Capital Projects outputs.
o Responsible for regional Capital Projects' contribution to the Group citizenship agenda.

Domain Specific
o Delivery of complex capital projects in live environments across different asset types
o Responsible for the consistent development of the marketing and branding of Barclays CRES Capital Project services in line with function and wider Group Brand guidelines i.e. to present a uniform visual image to our user communities through but not limited to; design, look, feel, functionality and corporate branding.
o Responsible for regional reporting of all activity in the Capital Projects arena.
o Responsible for developing and delivering a regional Capital Investment plan, which ensures operational effectiveness, risk minimisation and optimised investment.
o Responsible for the design and communication of client facing and vendor SLAs and the management and monitoring of contractor and consultant performance through specific and targeted reporting.

o Degree qualification in relevant field. e.g. Construction Management / Project Management / Real Estate / Quantity Surveying / Cost Management, or equivalent.
o 8+ years experience managing construction and workspace fit-outs, including delivery of complex environments (e.g. trade floors, data centers, campuses, call centers)
o 5+ years experience in Banking / Financial Markets or equivalent corporate environment

Professional/technical experience
o Proven ability to work effectively across teams, and communicate effectively at all levels.
o Experience of operating and managing large time and cost sensitive projects in a pressurised environment
o Experience of delivering work place projects or experience of delivering projects in a workplace rich environment
o Experience of resource and cost management on large projects
o Risk management
