Full Job Description

Mid Yorkshire Teaching NHS Trust has a proven track record of providing excellent support to those entering the nursing profession in partnership with universities. We have been recognised nationally for the support we have provided individuals during their studies and in the period when they are settling into employment.

Nursing Associates work as a vital part of the wider nursing team and this important role helps to bridge care between Healthcare Support Workers and Registered Nurses. The fundamental focus of the role is to deliver care for patients and the public.

Nursing Associate training includes a mixture of hands-on experience within the workplace, supported by some learning in the classroom.

This is a 2 year Apprenticeship and at the end of your Apprentice Nursing Associate training, you will receive a foundation degree, and once you register with the Nursing and Midwifery Council, you will become a fully registered Nursing Associate.

Once you have completed your foundation degree, you have the opportunity to progress onto further education and become a Registered Nurse by completing a shortened Nursing Degree or Nursing Degree Apprenticeship.

Nursing Associates work in many different health and care settings, including hospitals, care homes, learning disabilities, general practice and in the community. Listen in on some of our Nursing Associate case studies.

You will be asked to provide original certificates of your Maths and English qualifications. If you don't have these, you will not be able to attend the assessment centre., There is an eligibility criterion for government funded apprenticeships which requires the applicant to be aged 16+ and be a resident in the UK for the last three years. Applicants cannot have achieved a qualification at level 5 or above in the same pathway as this will exempt them from being able to undertake the apprenticeship.

We provide care and support to over half a million people in Wakefield and Kirklees in their homes, in community settings and across our three hospital sites at Pontefract, Dewsbury and Pinderfields (in Wakefield).

Always striving for excellence, we are at the forefront of innovation and research and we invest in teaching and the development of our workforce.

We live by our values of caring, improving, being respectful and maintaining high standards. We listen and learn because we aim to make Mid Yorkshire the best place to work and the best place to receive care.

We have a clear vision, and you could be part of this! If you share our values and you want to make a difference to the lives of our patients and their families and carers, we would love to hear from you.
