Full Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Trainee Advanced Clinical Practitioner working predominantly in urology for the first 18 months following which there may be a requirement to rotate within Surgical Services, including Hospital out of Hours.
This vacancy is a training/development post so all applicants will start at Band 6 and upon completion of necessary skills and/or training will progress to Band 7.
The progression to band 7 will be achieved once the post holder has successfully demonstrated the completion of the relevant Advanced Practice Post Graduate Diploma, and a portfolio of evidence containing supervised learning events which demonstrate completion of the clinical element of the core curriculum outlined in the Multi-Professional Advanced Clinical Practice Framework (HEE 2017).
The practitioner also should be working towards completion of the non-clinical pillars at this time and specialist curricula where available. This will be assessed at the yearly ACP bespoke appraisal known as a Clinical Academic Support Panel (CASP). This will verify the practitioner has demonstrated the baseline level of competence to facilitate autonomous practice.
Agenda for change Band 7 will be attained through successful completion of the core and specialist competencies and post graduate level study.
These components to include:
+ Non-medical prescribing (NMP)
+ Advanced Clinical assessment (APACS)
+ Role specific competencies, + Work autonomously using their expertise and high level and complex decision-making skills to inform provide high quality clinical assessment, and evidence-based judgements and/or diagnoses, intervention, and treatment plans where required.
+ Use expertise and decision-making skills to inform clinical reasoning approaches when dealing with differentiated and undifferentiated individual presentations and complex situations, synthesising information from multiple sources to make appropriate, evidence-based judgements, diagnoses, and treatment plans
+ Use specialist knowledge of investigations and treatment options in order to provide patients with necessary information to obtain informed consent before any clinical intervention is undertaken, You will be working for an organisation which values and respects all of its staff and the community it serves. This vacancy is advertised on a fixed term contract basis for a period of3 years due to this being an apprenticeship/training programme. The fixed term contract status of the post holder will be reviewed in accordance with the Trust's legal obligations regarding fixed term contracts.
A learner/applicant must be a UK, EEA, or EU resident for at least the past three years to undertake an apprenticeship training programme.
Please also note any secondment must first be agreed with your current line manager., This position is subject to completion of the required competencies set at a national or local level and on completion the fixed term contract will end. As such your fixed term contract of employment can only continue for its specified duration if you comply with these requirements. Consequently, your fixed term contract status will be reviewed to accommodate the Trust's legal obligations in accordance with the Fixed Term Contract Regulations in relation to your individual employment status and the successful timely completion of all the elements of your apprenticeship. The fully qualified role will be on a permanent basis should you complete your apprenticeship as defined within the competencies set as above.
If you are currently employed by STH you will need approval to undertake this apprenticeship on a temporary basis from your substantive manager.
