Full Job Description

The Technical Assurance (TA) team are responsible for capturing, developing and demonstrating compliance to Stakeholder requirements, facilitating configuration and technical change management, and managing technical assurance activities to achieve self-assured delivery of the project.

The TA Engineer will work closely with the Requirements Manager, Design Manager, Delivery Team, and key technical leads within the project team to define work package requirement sets, along with planning the appropriate verification & validation methods to demonstrate compliance. The TA Engineer will support further activities of the assurance team relating to Technical Assurance, Configuration and Technical Change Management.

Role Responsibility

  • Assist with developing and maintaining the master requirements set

  • Work with design teams, delivery teams, subcontractors, and subject matter experts to define applicable requirements for each work package, and identify appropriate verification & validation evidence

  • Provide support and guidance on the Requirements Management processes and infrastructure to the wider project team

  • Identification and decomposition of new and existing requirements

  • Supporting Design and Delivery Teams with production of TA Certification and to check for compliance.

  • Support activities that are undertaken by the TA Team, to include but not limited to;

  • + Tracking Work Package Assurance deliverables
    + Assist with maintaining Configuration Control in relation to Changes imposed on the project
    + Contributing to Technical Assurance activities required to achieve Single Assurance Pack L3 Certification
  • Understand the Client and Joint Venture Partners' Environment and Sustainability Policies, Processes and statutory requirements as they affect the company's operations and ensure that the requirements, as applicable within their discipline, are implemented on the project. improve, You'll be a welcomed member of the wider team, with opportunities to take on additional responsibility, join one of our networks for women, military or LGBT+ staff, and participate in cultural and social events with the local community (e.g. as a STEM ambassador).

Develop a culture of safety on the project through the absolute commitment to the Zero Accidents target and ethos, and develops a wider awareness of quality, environmental issues and demonstrates commitment to achieve continual improvement and Zero tolerance.

  • Formal education such as a Degree or HND preferably in an Engineering or Construction related subject. Otherwise work related experience in construction or engineering, such as an approved apprenticeship will be considered

  • Strong analytical ability and problem solving skills

  • Proficiency in MS Word, MS Excel and MS Outlook a must

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and interpersonal skills, Exposure to, or an interest in Systems Engineering and Technical Assurance

  • Experience within Civil Engineering or Rail would be advantageous

  • Familiarity with requirements management tools, particularly IBM Rational DOORS

  • Experience in either tunnels, shafts and/or utilities & asset protection would be advantageous

  • Good attention to detail, A physical or mental impairment, which has a substantial and long-term effect (over 12 months) adverse effect on your ability to carry out normal day-to-day activities

  • Demonstrated in your application and pre-interview stage that you meet the minimum job criteria and person specification for the role

    The role will work on the HS2 project. HS2 is the UK's new high speed rail network. It will be a catalyst for economic growth across Britain, freeing up space on the existing railways and connecting 8 out of the UK's 10 biggest cities with fast, reliable and frequent high speed services


  • The Skanska | Costain | STRABAG (SCS JV) is delivering the HS2 London Tunnels Contract. Scope of works includes twin-bored tunnels (TBM), SCL tunnels, shaft sinking, bridge demolition and reconstruction, services diversions, earthworks and the construction of site compounds.
