The KPMG financial services tax team is a fast-growing part of the KPMG tax practice. Operating from London & Edinburgh we do work which matters, serving the region with diligence and expertise.

The KPMG Insurance Tax Team has a strong market reputation working with leading Global and UK insurers on a range of tax services.

The role is in our insurance tax team, which has a diverse client and target base spanning UK & Global Insurers. There is a strong pipeline of project and advisory work.

Responsibilities include supporting delivery of a range of engagements across corporate tax advisory, insurance tax advisory, and tax audit assist.

The Insurance Tax Team will invest in the right candidate to enable quick upskilling on industry tax technical and commercial matters.

The successful candidate will be a self-starter with a good level of core corporate tax technical knowledge and a confident outward facing skillset willing to invest time and effort in the marketplace.

What will you be doing?

  • The role involves predominately Tax Advisory with some Audit and Compliance

  • Delivery of a range of engagements across tax advisory including M&A, tax advice including Pillar 2, tax audit, and compliance

  • Undertaking tax accounting work to assist clients with their statutory reporting process.

  • Carrying out detailed technical research.

  • Being the first point of contact for multiple clients.

  • Working closely with colleagues in other parts of KPMG, both within and outside of Tax

  • Developing and maintaining client relationships.

  • Understanding the client's business and helping to identify areas for the provision of tax and other services.

  • Being involved in business development and proposal activity.

  • Ensuring all risk procedures are adhered to., With 20 sites across the UK, we can potentially facilitate office work, working from home, flexible hours, and part-time options. If you have a need for flexibility, please register and discuss this with our team.

    Qualified ATT / CTA / ACA or equivalent

  • Corporate tax background, ideally some experience in tax audit

  • Currently operating at Manager or experienced Assistant Manager grade

  • Possession of sound judgement, including the ability to identify and evaluate risk issues, and knowing when to involve others.

  • Pro-active in identifying and progressing business opportunities for the long-term benefit of the business.

  • A track record of helping to lead / leading large, complex, high intensity projects, with a focus on accountability, high quality, and timely delivery.

  • Ability to communicate effectively at all levels (internally and externally) and be a team player; strong interpersonal skills are required in addition to strong oral and written communication skills with an ability to build and motivate teams.

  • High level analytical skills and a commercial approach to resolving issues and providing advice; ability to apply knowledge of fundamental tax principles in identifying potential technical issues and opportunities.

  • Desire to coach and develop more junior members of the team to build specialisms rapidly and respond to market demand.
