Full Job Description

Cambrian Care Consortium Ltd are seeking enthusiastic and dedicated support workers to join the friendly team in Abergavenny and Tredegar areas to deliver quality support to our service users - vulnerable adults with mental health issues.

Typical duties could include:

  • Assisting with medication - this could be ordering and collecting prescriptions, prompting or observing medication, making and supporting with appointments etc.

  • Meal Preparation.

  • Prompting with personal hygiene

  • Support with light household duties, including laundry, shopping and cleaning.

  • General companionship.

  • Encourage activity and motivation.

  • Ability to record events accurately on a daily basis.

  • More about the role:

    Normal working week is: Full Time 35 hours worked flexibly Monday to Sunday. Shifts will include days, weekends and Bank Holidays.

    Part time hours also available.
  • Working hours will be provided verbally on a weekly basis, depending on the requirements of the service users.

  • The service operates Monday to Sunday, so working hours and days may vary each week and applicants must be willing to work alternative weekends.

  • You will make calls to service users throughout your shift and must be prepared to travel within the service catchment area.

  • Full training is provided - candidates must be prepared to attend training sessions, as scheduled.

    This role requires working with vulnerable individuals with mental health. Your employment will therefore be subject to appropriate pre-employment checks including referencing and a Disclosure & Barring Service Check.


  • We do not ask for any formal qualifications or experience of working in care before, although having previous experience in a similar role would be desirable.

    You will be at the very heart of our industry, so you are expected to be reliable, dependable and committed to make a difference to our service.

    Due to the nature of the work, a full driving licence and access to your own vehicle is desirable but not essential to undertake this role.,
  • Spinal Injury: 1 year (preferred)

  • Support Worker: 1 year (preferred)

    Job Types: Part-time, Full time, Permanent - 6 month probationary period.
