Full Job Description

A suitably-qualified Speech andLanguage Therapist is required to join our Speech and Language Therapy Team inSouth Tyneside and Sunderland.

The role will provide you with anexcellent opportunity to develop clinical skills and experience of working withadults with a range of communication and swallowing difficulties across acuteand community settings.

Excellent support,supervision and training will be provided as we have therapists working acrossa wide range of specialities.

You will be required to meet the travelrequirements of the role. This Postwill be subject to HCPCregistration.

You will be joining awell-established innovative team of Speech and Language Therapist others.

You will be committed toteam working. You will be well-supported and supervised to develop yourclinical skills within our team and you will be encouraged to access CPD andtraining.

We are a patient-focused serviceand continually strive to improve what we do for the benefit of the people wholive in our area.

The Sunderland Speech and Language Therapy team also has astrong research background and you will be encouraged to develop your skills inthis area to ensure we translate innovation, audit and research outcomes intopractice for improved patient care and outcomes., To provide speech and language therapy service to adults (inpatients, outpatients and community home visits) with a wide range of acquired swallowing and communication disorders.

Essential

  • Degree in Speech and Language Therapy / Pathology or equivalent.

  • Certificate to Practice issued by the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (RCSLT).

  • Registration with the Health and Care Professions Council.

  • Knowledge of recent research, assessment and therapy findings.


  • Desirable

    Post-graduate Dysphagia training.

    Experience

    Essential
  • Satisfactory range of undergraduate clinical experience.

  • Ability to recognise the limits of own experience and how / when to seek advice.


  • Desirable

    Wide, varied range of undergraduate and / or graduate clinical experience.

    Physical skills

    Essential
  • Ability to work effectively both alone and as a Team Member.

  • Ability to travel to / work at various sites across the Trust (possibly on a daily / short notice basis).

  • Competent computer skills.


  • Desirable

    Car driver / owner.,
  • Excellent level of interpersonal and communication skills enabling effective working relationships.

  • Administrative skills including record-keeping, collecting statistics / audit information.

  • Effective time-management skills.

  • Ability to manage own caseload, including prioritisation.

  • Ability to work effectively both alone and as a team member.


  • Desirable

    Post-graduate Dysphagia experience.

    You be vital to the delivery of our service across South Tyneside andSunderland. You will be based predominantly at Sunderland Royal Hospital butwill work within our team which covers across South Tyneside and Sunderland.

    You will be keen to develop your skills and experienceworking in with adults with speech, language, voice, communication andswallowing disorders in acute and community settings and we will support you todo that!
