Full Job Description

Duties include, as part of a team, or individually, within a Science and/or Engineering function:

  • Identifying and addressing customer and stakeholder requirements and ensuring these align with the overall business plan.

  • Interpret and apply relevant quality standards, regulations, frameworks and/or benchmarks.

  • Collect and analyse data to drive continuous improvement and measure performance.

  • Undertake, articulate the benefits of, and assist the development of a variety of assurance and improvement activities, including audit.

  • Develop and maintain a quality management system and controls to meet the requirements of ISO17025 and Def-Stan 05-055.

  • Collaborate across multi-functional teams, advocating for quality throughout all customer and stakeholder interactions.

  • Communicate effectively, help colleagues understand the quality vision and culture.

  • Create an environment where innovative approaches and solutions are implemented to resolve quality problems and mitigating risk.

  • Select and apply appropriate tools and techniques to improve quality performance.

  • Apply systems thinking, share knowledge and learning, seeking to develop and advance your own skills, knowledge and behaviours.

  • Provide technical review and guidance on the application of Quality in process development and improvement.

    Relevant HNC/HND or equivalent qualification and/or experience.

  • Membership of a recognized related professional body, or working towards i.e. MCQI.

  • Training and experience in the use of problem solving and improvement tools.

  • Ability to plan and execute actions to meet the needs of the business.

  • Experience in report writing and delivery, reviewing and auditing processes, programmes, and/or projects.

  • Good knowledge of the national and international standards for quality and business management systems.

  • Good depth and breadth of knowledge within their technical field.

  • Knowledge of ISO 17025 and applications of quality in science and research and development.

  • Influencing and stakeholder and relationship management skills, collaborative working with a broad cross section of customers, suppliers, and functions.

    Senior Quality Engineer - Science
    Lead the delivery of quality activities within Science and/or Engineering, supporting the wider quality team in the development and provision of quality tools and techniques to provide quality assurance, continuous improvement and mitigate risk. Collaborate with customers and stakeholders to embed quality, enhancing performance and creating a positive quality culture.

    Salary - Starting from £44,990 depending on skills and experience.
