Full Job Description

Based at Walton Hospital, Chesterfield we are open to a flexible working approach. You will work 22.5 hours, either over 5 days - Monday - Friday, 4 days or 3 full days, which is negotiable.

Additionally, the Pharmacy Technicians currently participate in an early opening rota, starting at 7.45am and this would be considered as a part of any longer day working pattern.

You will have excellent communication, organisational and interpersonal skills, be flexible and enthusiastic and have the ability to work under pressure.

There will be opportunities for further professional development by supporting the Trust's wider medicines management agenda and supporting the Integrated Pharmacy Medicines Optimisation programme and to work in clinical areas at ward level to provide an in-patient pharmacy services to community hospital wards.

You will provide the day-to-day supervision of the Pharmacy Assistants within the dispensary and when working on the wards and the delegation of work to the Pharmacy Technicians whilst working in the dispensary.

  • To participate in the provision of pharmacy services including supply of pharmaceuticals to Community Hospitals, Health Centres and Clinics, in accordance with national and local policy and agreed performance standards, providing support and advice to other health care professionals.

  • To assist the Principal Pharmacy Technician Team Manager, providing an efficient, accurate and high quality pharmaceutical service.

  • Participate in the provision of in-patient pharmacy services to Community Hospital wards according to the team rota.

  • Co-ordinating and directing staff, ensuring prescriptions and stock medicines are provided in a timely manner.

  • To ensure the Dispensary and Stores error monitoring process.

  • To maintain appropriate stock levels of medicines, equipment and sundries.

  • To support the Principal Pharmacy Technician Team Manager and the Senior Pharmacy Technician Education & Training and screening procurement requests , ensuring medicines are not over-stocked.

  • To liaise directly with the suppliers.

  • Oversee the monthly Dispensary expired stock and general stock adjustments, as identified during regular scheduled stock checks and improve stock control.

  • Oversee the 'owed medication' process to ensure timely orders, deliveries and transport deadlines are met.

  • Perform any other duties relevant to the post and grade that may be requested by more Senior members of the team, in order to support the wider medicines management agenda across the Trust.
