Full Job Description

As our Senior Marketing Manager, Campaigns, you will deliver strategic, tactical, and operational campaigns expertise to the Academic Division Marketing team and be responsible for management and leadership of the Campaigns team who deliver data-driven campaigns encompassing email, web and digital advertising.

With direction from the Director of Marketing Shared Services & Operations, you will establish campaign strategy and approach, and lead campaign transformation within the division; you will set campaign and production guidelines, define best practices and enable efficiency and effectiveness within our approach to campaigns including processes and workflows while maintaining a high-quality level of campaign delivery.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong people management and campaign experience who wants to have significant influence on the impact and effectiveness of our campaigns. You will share your knowledge and use your consultative skills to benefit a large group of marketers who are keen to improve their campaigns. You will be a keen problem solver who has the ability to influence persuasively.

Duties will include:

  • Team Leadership and Development


  • Strong team leadership of the Campaigns team, fostering high morale and motivation, low turnover rates, and professional growth among team members; Ensure the team consistently delivers high-quality campaigns with minimal errors or issues; build expertise across all channels
  • Campaign strategy and transformation


  • Connect business goals to campaign strategy and identification of opportunities to improve our campaigns whether through transformation or continuous improvement; Successful implementation of improvements in campaign approach and performance, and positive feedback from stakeholders.
  • Efficiency Enhancement


  • Campaign activity across the division is aligned with the value of campaign outcomes; campaign delivery and production times are optimized without compromising on campaign effectiveness or quality; Progress in transitioning campaigns to a programmatic approach with the successful rollout of always-on campaigns, automated campaigns, and playbooks.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration


  • Establishing strong relationships with stakeholders, clear communication, and alignment on campaign objectives and strategy; communicate clearly across the marketing team and cement a reputation as the leading campaign expert in the division.

    This is a fully remote vacancy based in the UK, however our preference is for the successful candidate to come to the Oxford office on a regular basis.

    You will have:
  • Experience of team management, with a focus on campaign development and execution.

  • Comprehensive understanding of campaign tactics and best practices relating to email marketing, web marketing and digital advertising, and data.

  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to inspire and motivate a team.

  • Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities.

  • Strong understanding and experience working in email marketing, web marketing and digital advertising.

  • Strong public speaking and presentation skills.

  • Experience of stakeholder engagement and relationship management.


  • Desirable:
  • Experience in Academic Publishing or related industry.

  • Project management skills with experience coordinating complex campaign initiatives.

  • Experience of leading on transformational projects relating to campaign approach and/or process.
