Full Job Description

We are looking for a Finance Manager/Senior Finance Manager to join our team, assisting the Associate Director Financial Control and Operations in the smooth running of the month end close process as well as driving process efficiency and continuous improvement across the finance function. This is a broad role in a focussed team and provides a great opportunity for personal and professional growth.

Please note this is a hybrid role and Regular travel is required to our labs / offices in Oxford, UK (approximately 2-3 times per week), with flexibility to work from home in the UK the remaining time. We are a flexible working organisation and we're willing to consider other options which would provide similar contact time with the team.

You will have the opportunity to:

  • Play a critical role in the month end close process, and take ownership/accountability for various processes including generation of various accruals/prepayments, balance Sheet reconciliations and Fixed assets

  • Assist with system implementations and optimisation

  • Take joint ownership of financial aspects of the Payroll process

  • Take ownership of resolution of finance and business queries including being a key point of contract with the Financial Reporting and FP&A teams

  • Assist in the improvement of processes, controls & procedures to support the Group's implementation and maintenance of internal controls compliant with US Sarbanes Oxley 404 legislation.

  • Act as a key contact for key stakeholders, both internally & externally

  • Act as a coach and mentor to other team members.

    ACA/ACCA Qualified or equivalent

  • Experience working in a similar role, preferably in a US listed company or experience of auditing such organisations

  • Strong accounting systems knowledge & experience of system implementations, process improvement and control implementation


  • Essential skills:
  • Organised individual with attention to detail and ability to prioritise and manage time effectively

  • Ability to question and challenge existing processes and SOP's to optimise team efficiency


  • Desirable skills:
  • Pharmaceutical/Life Science/BioTech experience
