Full Job Description

We are currently recruiting for a Senior Family Worker. This is a fantastic opportunity to join our team who specialise in offering the best support to children and young people in our care.

The role of Senior Family Worker will involve providing practical and emotional support to children who may have their current home with foster carers or in residential children's homes within Stockton and the surrounding area. You will work as part of the care team around children in our care to ensure their safety and ensure positive outcomes are achieved.

Examples of work you would be undertaking include:

  • Delivering interventions with children, young people and their parents/carers

  • Supporting care planning

  • Life story work to help children understand their experiences at home and since coming into our care

  • Helping transport children / young people, Stockton has a great Help and Support offer with close links between social work teams, family work teams and young people's services. We have a well-regarded Family Group Conference team, Family Workers with expertise in parenting assessments, Graded Care Profile and PAMS as well as a partnership with Family Action who supervise family time. We are also very proud of our recently opened hub for care experienced young people.

  • Do you have experience of working directly with children, young people and their families?

  • Are you enthusiastic, caring and positive with strong communication skills?

  • Do you want to make a difference to the lives of families in Stockton-on-Tees?, You will have experience of direct work with children, young people and their families and ideally experience of working with care experienced children / young people. Strong communication and problem-solving skills, emotional resilience and the ability to have difficult conversations are crucial to this role.
