Full Job Description

As a consultant, your subject matter and expected outputs can vary significantly from client to client. Each client role you take will be different and be at different stages of the delivery lifecycle. This diversity of role provides new and interesting opportunities, but also requires you to have the latitude to adapt. Depending on the client role, you will be expected to:

  • Support clients in creating and assessing their technology strategies and roadmaps, ensuring they are investing in the right technology and delivering in the right order.

  • Support delivery programmes by gathering requirements, managing those requirements through agile software tools, working with Product Owners, Solution Architects, Development teams and Programme Managers.

  • You will continuously learn, improve, and adapt to the nature of the client and programme. Expanding into new subject matters where required (e.g. Retail Banking, Payments, Commercial Banking, etc.).

  • Perform a technical BA role, supporting the client throughout the project/programme lifecycle across discovery, requirements gathering, solution design and build, end-to-end testing, process definition and change and go-live.

  • Proficiency in driving data driven decisions and optimising processes as part of design activities.


  • Outside of client engagements you will be an important member of a growing BA practice within Digital Banking. You will also be involved in:
  • Contribute to thought leadership and continuous capability development to the firm, ensuring we are setting the standard for our clients to follow and we are at the cutting edge of the latest technology developments that apply to the Banking industry.

  • Strengthening our Business Analysis capability through coaching and mentoring junior team members to help them grow to their full potential and become the architects of the future.

  • Building effective client relationships with peer-level stakeholders across all business and technical domains including IT, Operations and Risk.

  • Building and maintaining the business relationships with our technology partners ensuring we remain up to date with all their latest innovations.

  • Contribute to business development work, bringing entrepreneurial mindset, leading the development of our key propositions to market through pre-sales, bid preparation and client presentations.

  • Support the definition and implementation of Deloitte accelerators and standards and promoting adherence to these standards within internal and external programmes and projects.

  • Participate fully within Deloitte to assist the growth of the digital banking practice and the Industry Solutions division including supporting the firm's commitment to creating a more diverse and inclusive culture.

    The essentials: We are recruiting candidates with the following experience:
  • Experience of working with Next Gen Core Banking Solutions (specifically 10x, Thought Machine, Mambu, Temenos or FIS or equivalent).

  • Experience of core system modernisation (in particular within Banking but broader FS would be helpful) with a track record of high performance and success in your role delivering change and transformation for your end client.

  • Experience of complex systems integration programmes preferably with FS example of this could include new core integration into existing legacy architecture and required migration activities.

  • End user focussed requirements definition/technical design experience in a banking or other highly regulated environment, leveraging agile ways of working from backlog definition, story mapping and writing epics/user stories to support the software delivery lifecycle.

  • Experience in working with technical stakeholders to create and shape technical solution designs leveraging latest thinking on architectural approaches, e.g. modular architecture.

  • Working closely and collaborating with internal and client stakeholders to understand and articulate challenges to implement overall vision.


  • The Desirables:
  • Experience or understanding of banking products, processes, and technologies in areas such as:

  • + Commercial and/or Retail banking including but not limited to; products such as payments, mortgages, lending, trade and supply chain finance, cash management and liquidity.
    + Digital channels including but not limited to; mobile, web and Relationship Manager focussed channels.
    + Digital platforms and technologies including but not limited to; cloud, API/Microservices, data and analytics.
  • Experience of successfully managing small teams, leading technology implementations within the banking sector and building and maintaining relationships with external stakeholders.

  • Experienced of guiding and coaching junior talent through challenging situations and providing honest and constructive development points.

  • Working with engineering and test teams to help translate and communicate technical designs during implementation to help deliver solutions to end users.

  • Appreciation of emerging technology and trends in banking with an understanding and knowledge of different players in the banking ecosystem, ranging from FinTechs to established global technology providers.

  • Proficiency with data modelling and working with UML diagrams to support design activities

  • Strong proficiency in key day to day applications such as Microsoft Office, Jira and Confluence.


  • Preferably you will also have:
  • Industry certifications such as Scrum Master, Product Owner, BCS, ITIL, TOGAF, and Cloud certifications such as AWS/GCP/Azure among others.

  • Proficiency or experience with a software development language e.g. Java, Python, SQL, HTML, JSON.
