Senior Backend Engineer

We're looking for an exceptionally talented Senior Backend Engineer to join our team! In this role, you'll lead the charge on innovative projects, addressing various facets of the user experience, ranging from strategic ad placement to ensuring smooth communication through chat features. You'll immerse yourself in refining our current application within a bustling, high-traffic environment, excelling in resolving intricate challenges and adeptly handling unexpected issues. And that's just the beginning! You'll also play a pivotal role in nurturing, guiding, and empowering junior developers, all while leveraging state-of-the-art technology to drive innovation and cultivate ongoing development.,

• Collaborate, coach and mentor other engineers and team members.


• Minimise technical risk and ensure a high-quality output.


• Supervising and overseeing the technical aspects of projects.


• Lead project analysis, design, implementations and commissioning phases, provide technical and functional recommendations.


• Ensure all deliverables are thoroughly tested, includes test automation following the Test Pyramid concept, conduct system acceptance testing, verification and validation activities to promote rapid but high-quality development practices.


• Lead system failure analysis and provide corrective actions.


• Communicate with engineers across different functions and oversee delivery of a cross-platform project.


• Works with PMs and DLs to prioritise Squad Technical Debt and Security Tickets within the SLAs


• Acts as a technical squad point of contact for cross-team work initiatives such as technical changes
  
  Over 8 years of dedicated full-time software development experience, or equivalent.


• A minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in the development of high-traffic systems.


• Proficiency in designing and working with User/Messaging Moderation Systems.


• Demonstrated expertise in implementing and managing intricate integrations with third-party APIs, including familiarity with OpenAPI standards.


• Extensive experience in Java 11+ development.


• Proven track record in utilizing messaging-based services such as GCP Pub/Sub and Confluent Kafka.


• Comprehensive understanding and application of the entire Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) within collaborative, cross-functional, and dynamic work environments.


• Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code (IaaC) practices, particularly in Kubernetes, Docker, and Helm Charts within a GCP ecosystem.


• Skilled in establishing and enhancing Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.


• Knowledgeable in security practices including Threat Modelling, OWASP standards, GDPR compliance, SonarCloud analysis, Dynamic Application Security Testing (DAST), and Container scanning.


• Possess strong analytical capabilities along with effective communication skills.


• Exceptional organizational and leadership qualities.


• Proficient in various software development methodologies.


• Experience in decomposing monolithic architectures and adept at designing and constructing complex systems using message-oriented microservice architectures.


• Familiarity with GCP Monitoring Dashboard and Alerting functionalities.


Nice to have …

• Experience with Java 17


• Experience working with Infrastructure as Code technologies like Terraform.


• Experience with SRE or similar infrastructure work.


• Working knowledge of Scala
