Full Job Description

The clinical lead will have exceptional clinical and management skills who also has a vision for innovation in fulfilling a person centred approach for those cared for at the home.

· The Clinical Lead, has the managerial responsibility for providing clinical operational, managerial, and professional leadership for the nursing team, consisting of Nurses, Nursing Assistants and support service within the home.

· Take an active role within monitoring compliance with legislation, the home's Policies, Procedures and Codes of Conducts, ensuring that all legal requirements are adhered to within the defined timescales.

· To communicate and escalate appropriately at all levels in line with legislation, the home's policies, protocols and procedures, and other requirements. Accountable to The Directors of Highbury Nursing Home Ltd, the Registered Manager, and to the regulatory bodies for the home and its services such as CQC, HSE, CCGs and Local Authorities. Accountabilities Leadership, HR areas, and training

· To assume the lead for the running of the home when on duty if the Manager is absent from the home for any reason.

· To support the Registered Manager to ensure that the home's Management of Medication Policy is adhered to and all medications, including controlled drugs are ordered, stored, administered and disposed of in accordance with legal requirements, national guidance, recognised practices and the home's policies, protocols and procedures.

· To support the Registered Manager in completing supervision and competency assessment of medication administration.

· To identify learning opportunities from Serious Incidents and near misses and implement change where it will result in improvements in safety and care provided.

· To review the daily delivery of care and recording, including skin integrity, nutrition and hydration, hygiene, mobility, accidents, and incidents, and ensure high standards are maintained.

· To support the Registered Manager to ensure that people living at the home, their families, friends, and supporters are being provided with information in relation to care delivery, being mindful of data protection and Caldicott requirements.

· To support the Registered Manager to ensure that areas of identified risks are appropriately monitored and outcomes recorded and action is taken (for example in the area of nutrition and hydration, repositioning, blood glucose monitoring, etc.

· To liaise with GPs and other health and social care professionals to ensure that people receive the medical and other support they require.

· To know and keep abreast of all legislation and regulations relating to the home's activities including Health & Social Care Act, Health & Safety, C.O.S.H.H., Fire Prevention, Care Standards, and the Mental Capacity Act and to ensure effective communication to and implementation by all staff.

1. Registered Nurse qualification with a current NMC PIN number.

2. Evidence of initiating change within a team that has had a positive impact.

3. Experience in managing staff groups.

4. Excellent communication skills - demonstration of a competent and professional manner regardless of the situation.

5. The ability to meet set deadlines.

6. Able to demonstrate good time and resource management skills.

7. A flexible and adaptable approach to working hours in order to meet the operational requirements of the home.
