Serco are proud to support the Fleet Air Arm, including the Commando Helicopter Force based at Royal Naval Air Station Yeovilton, delivering services ranging from the repair and maintenance of military aircraft
- to fuel delivery and off-aircraft support services. Yeovilton is one of the Royal Navy`s two principal air stations, is one of the busiest military airfields in the UK and home to more than 100 aircraft.Serco have an exciting opportunity for a Qualified Aircrewman Instructor to form part of the CHF Merlin Simulator Facility based at RNAS Yeovilton, with the capacity to support at other military establishments as required. This role will deliver ground
- based aircrewman training as required for Commando Helicopter Force (CHF)., The Qualified Aircrewman Instructor will be responsible for providing training and support for the following responsibilities:

- Ab-initio aircrewman conversion to type (CTT) and conversion to role (CTR).
- Aircrew refresher training.
- Simulator Instructor training including minimum annual simulator time (MAST).
- Analysis of student sorties and submission of written reports within timescales as directed by Simulator OiC.
- Attend instructor and standardisation meetings.
- Development of training material in conjunction with a Subject Matter Expert (SME) Lead Instructor.
- Compliance with and completion of routine paperwork.
- Support and administrative activities as required by Simulator OiC
- Acting as CHF Merlin Simulator Duty Instructor.
- Report any safety-related occurrences and near-misses that are identified by the Contractor or occur in the course of delivery of flying training at RNAS Yeovilton, including but not limited to:
- Air Safety occurrences via the Air Safety Information Management System (ASIMS).
- Safety, Health, Environment and Fire (SHEF) occurrences via the Navy Lessons and Information Management System (NLIMS).
- Communicate with the Authority effectively and in good time to manage Flying Training outputs at RNAS Yeovilton, ensure that outputs meet the Authority's priorities and that risks to output are identified, understood and managed.
- Provide formal reports to the Authority on personnel HF/EM competence and delivery of service volumes provided.

What you'll need for the role:
Essential

Candidates must have minimum B1 Grade with at least 1000 hours Merlin HM Mk 3 or 4 or Sea King Mk4 and 200 instructional hours (simulated or airborne across aircraft types).

Desirable:

- A2/A1 Grade.
- A thorough and good working knowledge of the following:
- Completed an Aviation Human Factors Course.
- Completed Merlin Mk4 Instructor Operator Station (IOS) course.
- Cleared to Secret UK Eyes only.
- To be Defence Systems Approach (DSAT) compliant.
- To be Defence Train the Trainer Qualified or equivalent.
- Good people management experience.
- A good capability to work productively, efficiently & effectively with initiative and drive under tight timescales and pressure whilst maintaining operational outputs.
