Full Job Description

You will be working in a GP practice that is approved as a centre of excellence in education and training. You may also have the opportunity to work across other sites and/or elsewhere in their Primary Care Network (PCN), to broaden your understanding of general practice and how different surgeries can operate.

In the first six months you will complete several short courses to gain practical skills including: Phlebotomy, Vaccination & Immunisation, Wound Care, CVD, Mental Health, Asthma & COPD, Diabetes, Learning Disabilities, Motivational Interviewing, Quality Outcome Framework (QOF) and Contraception & Sexual Health. In the second six months you will complete a long-term condition module. Throughout the 12 months, there will be a monthly peer group learning sessions where the whole group come together to learn and share through action learning sets.

You should be:

A final year student nurse / a nurse new to Primary Care.

Able to work 37.5 hours per week (Monday to Friday)

Able to travel to your allocated GP practice and attend all training courses provided., Be part of the Practice Health Care team providing high quality and forward thinking nursing care to meet the holistic healthcare needs of the practice population. To work within NMC Code of Conduct and to agreed practice standards and protocols.

Trust Primary Care Ltd (TPC) hosts the West Yorkshire Primary Care Workforce & Training Hub (PCWTH) which means we are accredited to provide undergraduate and post-graduate multi-professional training placements. PCWTHs have an integrated learning ethos, placing education, training and development as a core part of everyday work. We aim to encourage integrated learning both inter-professionally and between learners at different stages of their learning journey, training and developing the future workforce. At TPC, we work with General Practices, Primary Care Networks (PCNs), Federations, NHSE&I and the Integrated Care Board (ICB), to address workforce issues and encourage recruitment, development and mentoring in our area.

This is a training post. However, you will be employed as a Practice Nurse by Trust Primary Care Ltd (TPC) on a fixed term 12 month contract with an annual salary of £27,000 (includes access to the NHS pension scheme).
