Full Job Description

Practice Nurse wanted to join our highly motivated and friendly practice team.

We are a friendly, well established and successful GP practice located in the Preston Park area of Brighton and within easy reach of the wonderful Sussex countryside.

You will be joining a supportive practice with a cohesive, stable and dynamic team and at the same time enjoy a genuine professional and personal work life balance.

We are:-

- A team of 9 GP Partners, 2 Salaried GPs and an extended Clinical team of 1 Nurse Practitioner, 2 Practice Nurses, 1 HCA, 2 Clinical Pharmacists, 1 Physiotherapist and 2 phlebotomists.
- A practice taking a prominent role in Preston Park Community Primary Care Network.
- Patient List size of 11,900 and growing
- Well Organised
- System One clinical system
- Close knit practice team with regular social events., a) To provide nursing services to patients of the Practice including treatment, screening and advice to include:-

  • Cervical screening

  • Child and adult immunisation

  • Ear irrigation

  • Spirometry/Peak flow Readings

  • Phlebotomy

  • Wound care and management

  • Dressings plus compression dressings

  • Blood pressure monitoring

  • Any other delegated duties appropriate to the post


  • b) Chronic disease management to patients in accordance with good practice.

    c) Work with patients in order to support adherence to prescribed treatments.

    d) Support patients to adopt health promotion strategies that promote patients to live healthily, and apply principles of self-care.

    e) Be able to identify medical emergencies and take appropriate action.

    f) Recording clear and contemporaneous consultation notes to agreed standards using the agreed computerised systems for all patient information.

    n) To communicate effectively with patients and carers, recognizing the need for alternative methods of communication to overcome different levels of understanding, cultural background and preferred ways of communicating.

    o) To safely manage hazardous biological substances including blood, vomit, urine, faeces and vaginal secretions.

    p) To encourage health promotion and education for all patients and advise them of other available services.
