Full Job Description

The following are the core responsibilities. There may be, on occasion, a requirement to carry out other tasks; this will be dependent upon factors such as workload and staffing levels: Ensure clinical practice is safe and effective and remains within boundaries of competence, and to acknowledge limitations. Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to deliver safe and high-quality care. Offer a holistic approach to travel health by providing comprehensive advice to patients prior to travel including vaccinations and medicines, safe sex, food hygiene, sun protection. Offer advice about childhood and adult vaccinations and ensure vaccines are administered under patient group directions. Health promotion, facilitating change by providing holistic assessment and lifestyle advice on diet, smoking, alcohol intake and exercise. Assessing problems presented opportunistically by patients, dealing with minor illness within scope of practice. Prevent and Manage Chronic Diseases (Diabetes, COPD and
Asthma) Womens Health: perform a holistic assessment of patients attending for cervical cytology and contraception advise and reviews. Perform venepuncture according to local guidelines. Provide a holistic approach to wound management including Doppler assessments/ compression, implement wound care in line with current evidence-based guidelines. Removal of sutures and staples Take ECGs. Record Observations accurately BP, RR, HR, Temp, Blood Glucose readings and report appropriately Able to recognize and manage anaphylaxis according to current UK guidelines. Able to perform Cardio-pulmonary resuscitation according to current UK guidelines. Support the team with dealing with clinical emergencies. Assist in the provision of minor surgery. Chaperone patients where necessary. Ability to obtain and document informed consent (either verbal or written). Ensure infection control guidelines are maintained. Ability to monitor and manage maintenance of stock and equipment to include refrigeration,
and emergency equipment. Ensures awareness of statutory and local clinical protection procedures, including systems of referral. Ability to recognise signs and symptoms of child abuse. Support teaching medical students and other health care professionals.
