Full Job Description

  • Ensure that the voice of the child, young person or adult remains central to all input with individuals and their teams.

  • Inspire and support teams to reduce restrictive practices through the development of proactive strategies and positive quality of life outcomes.

  • Develop effective working relationships with colleagues, families and external professionals in order to work in partnership to achieve the best possible outcomes for children, young people and adults.

  • Support PBS Coaches and teams to creatively capture outcomes in order to contribute to organisational learning and to influence sector practice.

  • Creatively champion PBS values within Keys Group.

  • Ensure that governance processes are adhered to in all support provided to PBS Coaches and teams.


  • Making Systems Work
  • Contribute to the PBS Coaches Network in order to support peer to peer learning and support across the organisation.

  • Facilitate any needed practice related training in order for teams to support children, young people and adults effectively.

  • Provide effective practice leadership to PBS Coaches and teams both proactively and to support during and beyond periods of change or challenge.

  • Provide effective support, mentoring and guidance to PBS Coaches and teams so that they ensure strategies align with legislation, best practice guidance, Keys Connect and relevant organisational policies.


  • Understanding Behaviour and Meeting Needs
  • Provide support, mentoring and guidance to PBS coaches and teams across Keys Group in regards to ongoing PBS practice. To include the supervision and support in regards to the completion of Functional Behaviour Assessments and the development of Positive Behaviour Support Plans when required.

  • Support colleagues, children, and adults in the provision of positive behaviour support plans, providing consultation to staff teams, verbal and written feedback where relevant and liaising with internal specialist teams and external multi-agencies.

  • Support the development of reflective practice and analytical skills within teams and PBS coaches.

    Positive Behaviour Support qualification, such as CAPBS Coaches Award

  • Minimum of 2 years' experience as a Positive Behaviour Support Practitioner, or a similar PBS coaching role

  • Experience facilitating training

  • To have previous proven experience of achieving improved quality of life outcomes and reductions in restrictive practices through the coaching of teams

  • To have excellent communication skills and be able to adapt styles to suit audience and engage others

  • To have strong analytical skills and the ability to use data to inform practice

  • To have a high level of literacy and experience of report writing and action plans

  • To be self-motivated and driven to expect the highest standards

  • Driving License and access to a car

  • Ability to travel throughout UK

  • A willingness and ability to work flexibly including some overnight stays as required, Qualification in Health and Social Care Management

  • Qualification in Education and Training

  • Degree level qualification in a health or social care field and/or significant relevant experience.
