Full Job Description

The Pitch Side First Aid Assistant will oversee first aid provision and emergency care during sports fixtures and key dates where medical cover is required in the school calendar. This will include co-ordination of the First Response Emergency Care Team and liaising with boarding teams. The Pitch Side First Aid Assistant will work closely with the Medical Centre.

This job description is written at a specific time and is subject to change as the demands of the Collegiate and the role develops. The role requires flexibility and adaptability and the employees of the Collegiate need to be aware that they may be asked to perform tasks and be given responsibilities not detailed in this job description.

The postholder's duties and responsibilities are as follows:

Roles, Responsibilities and Expectations: Emergency First Aider

  • Comply with all legislation applicable to administration of Emergency First Aid.

  • Respond to emergency incidents onsite including during fixtures, school event days and holiday camps.

  • Be aware of support available from other members of the team should this be required in an emergency and act in line with the procedures and policies and procedures set down by the Collegiate.

  • Conduct the necessary physical assessments necessary prior to the administration of Emergency First Aid.

  • Take a proactive responsibility for serious and/or complex welfare concerns, working with students, parents, staff, and outside agencies to ensure care of the highest possible quality.

  • Ensure students are cared for in a timely manner.

  • Maintain accurate electronic medical records for all incidents via school reporting systems. Including the Health and Safety Team ensure accurate and timely electronic records of accidents and treatment.

  • Liaise with other health care professionals and Emergency Services in a professional and courteous manner.

  • Work closely with the Operations Manager and General Practitioner and the staff at Priory Medical Group to ensure the necessary First Aid provisions are in place, including re-stocking first aid supplies throughout the Collegiate.

  • Be involved with the procurement of medical supplies and training, ensuring best value for money.

    The postholder will:
  • Be aware of and comply with policies and procedures relating to child protection, health, safety and security, confidentiality, and data protection, reporting all concerns to the appropriate person

  • Be aware of and support difference and ensure all pupils have equal access to opportunities to learn and develop

  • Contribute to the overall ethos/work/aims of the Collegiate

  • Attend and participate in regular meetings, INSET and directed time

  • Participate in training and other learning activities as required

  • Promote the Collegiate and its pupils positively at all times.
