Phlebotomist

Job Title: Phlebotomist Place of work: Gloucester Health Access Centre & Matson Lane Surgery Responsible To: Lead Nurse Hours of Duty: Part time Job Summary/Purpose: To provide a phlebotomy service to patients registered at Gloucester Health Access Centre/Matson Lane Main Duties/Tasks/Objectives: To take blood samples by venepuncture from patients, as requested by the surgery. To complete all associated documentation To mentor and train new members of staff. To be sensitive to the needs of service users whilst performing an invasive procedure. To maintain and ensure effective and efficient use of consumable phlebotomy equipment. To comply with the requirements of the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 as interpreted in the Health and Safety Policy. To undertake all duties and responsibilities, at all times in compliance with the local policies and procedures. To behave at all times with courtesy and consideration to colleagues and service users, regardless of position within the
organisation. To comply with the terms of the data protection act and other relevant legislation. To maintain patient confidentiality
