Full Job Description

We are currently looking to recruit a team of personal assistants/enablers to provide support for three boys all aged 6 years old.

We can offer both part and full-time posts.

The support is required to enable these boys to access the community with meaningful activities and to assist at home with daily routines. These young boys enjoy woodland walks, visiting the beach and Air Box bounce, farms, and zoos, and have lots of boundless energy.

MAIN DUTIES
· Support to access activities in the community which the boys enjoy attending and to engage in meaningful and enjoyable time both at home and with outside adventures.
· To provide personal care both at home and in the community, and to assist with washing, dressing and mealtimes and to include both morning and evening routines., Services

    · Preferably have experience working with children who have disabilities and who can present with challenging behaviour.

  • · Have a genuine interest in working with children with complex needs and developmental delay.
    · An understanding of non-verbal children and how to read body language and behaviours. Having some knowledge of Makaton would be useful.
    · Have an understanding of sensory needs and the difficulties faced by these on a daily basis.
    · Be able to keep up with these children and be physically fit as this post will require you to act on occasions very quickly. One child has no sense of danger and regardless of where he is taken indoor or outdoor setting he will require constant supervision as he will run away.
    · Have a high degree of initiative.
    · Be punctual and reliable and these children cannot be left unsupervised at any time.
    · Be flexible to cover holidays and sickness.
    · Respect confidentiality.

    Training will provided both face to face and online. Further specific training can be discussed at interview.

    Car driver essential and must have business insurance. An Enhanced DBS Check is required, and the cost will be net by Northumberland County Council.
