Full Job Description
- Location: Newcastle - Hybrid remote. Approximately 2-3 days a week in a Network Rail office / site, according to business needs.
- Travel required to meetings and sites in the Eastern Region.
- Full driving licence and access to vehicle essential.
- Biodiversity Inventory for the lineside estate, based on stakeholder and existing data
- Biodiversity Action Plans with overarching objectives for Routes
- Habitat Management Plans showing how the objectives will be put into practice
- Pilot development of implementation for future stages

- Supporting integration of plans into day-to-day working practices and standards

We are seeking consultant level ecologists, with a significant level of applied experience, who are seeking an ecology role with a difference

The Wildlife Trusts Consultancies (WTCs) have been engaged by Network Rail to deliver an extensive Biodiversity Plan throughout the Network Rail Eastern Region. The role will help shape and implement landscape-scale biodiversity improvements throughout rail networks. The role offers the opportunity to work in a friendly, collaborative team in a major organisation and engage with key internal and external stakeholders. The role will also offer the opportunity to work with major technologies, including data gathering tools and GIS, to organise ecological information.
Operational Ecologists will work under the guidance of a Strategic Ecologist, assisting them in the production of core project deliverables. The first year will focus on:
