Full Job Description

We are looking for an individual who is highly motivated and flexible in their approach, and is able to demonstrate excellent clinical assessment and rehabilitation of neurological patients. You will be responsible for the day to day provision of occupational therapy, working with patients to help them regain their independence and achieve their goals and ensuring the provision of high-quality patient-centred care and rehabilitation. You must be able to demonstrate strong evidence-based clinical knowledge and skills within the specialty of stroke and neurology. The team has strong links across the BLMK neuro network and stroke pathway. The unit is committed to ensuring staff feel supported with their wellbeing and development through supervision, appraisal, protected CPD time and training. The working hours are Monday to Friday 8am-4pm or 8:30am-4:30pm. You will have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team. The successful candidates will be
supported in this role with regular supervision with the therapy lead/unit manager. We are seeking to recruit an experienced, dynamic and self-motivated Neuro Occupational Therapist looking for band 6/7 role. We have free on-site parking, easy access to transport links, as well as extras such as free hot and cold drinks. You will be working closely with MDT colleagues to deliver high quality assessment, rehabilitation and discharge planning for patients within our unit. The successful candidate will: have a BSc degree in Occupational Therapy as well as having HCPC registration. work in close partnership with colleagues from the ABI teams and neuro rehab teams. lead on the delivery of high quality, individualised, evidenced based care to all patients Youll care for patients and their families in the way that you believe is best, delivering our high service standards, sharing best practice, and actively improving the way we work to help us change things for the better. You will have strong
written and verbal communication skills as well as excellent You'll be able to complete comprehensive assessment and treatment for patients with a neurological diagnosis, largely stroke and brain injury. Assessment includes cognitive, perceptual, functional and physical/motor assessment, particularly the upper limb To be able to complete home environmental assessment, and recommend and order appropriate equipment (including high cost and larger pieces of equipment) to enable patients to return home safely To be able to complete wheelchair assessment for basic wheelchairs and postural needs - preferably completed a Wheelchair Prescribers Course You will be a car driver with access to a vehicle for Home and Access visits. We will support you to develop your clinical and service development skills. You will receive regular clinical supervision from the unit manager/therapy lead. Professional development is actively encouraged and supported in a variety of ways including
annual personal development review and in-service training programme. To be able to complete patient related documentation in a timely manner using the SOAP format To be able to attend patient related MDT meetings, and feedback and lead on behalf of the OT team, patients and other MDT members. You will have access to appropriate external training.
