Full Job Description
Wheatley Hill Community Nursery is set in the village of Wheatley Hill in County Durham. We are a caring
and welcoming nursery set in the heart of the community, offering inclusive and high quality daycare,
nursery education, wraparound and holiday care to children aged between 6 weeks old and 11 years old.

The position will involve ensuring a smooth day-to-day running of the nursery. The manager is responsible
for the effective daily management of the setting. The role will require delivering high quality childcare and
learning opportunities, and leading and working as part of a team. The manager will need to guarantee
that the nursery is a welcoming, safe and stimulating environment for children, and that parents feel
welcome and their comments are always valued. Candidates must have good time keeping,
communication skills and lead their team in a supportive and encouraging manner.
Duties include creating a safe and stimulating environment to promote learning in compliance with EYFS,
Ofsted, health and safety and safeguarding requirements; updating parents on children's progress and
development; recruit and develop the nursery team; keep records and create reports; manage a budget;
ensuring that safety and child protection regulations are met and ratios are adhered to; and working as an
additional person on the floor to cover ratios, as and when required.
The successful manager will be expected to support and manage the staff in nursery and also other
professionals involved with the setting. It is essential that the manager takes responsibility for the effective
daily management of the nursery. The successful applicant will need to have a sound knowledge of the
company policies, procedures, requirements and Ofsted expectations, plus extensive knowledge of the
EYFS curriculum, ensuring that all these requirements are met and maintained at all times.
The nursery manager will have the assistance of a full time deputy manager and an admin assistant to
delegate administration work to, 15 hours each week.
We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic and experienced Nursery Manager. This is for a full-time position, Experience: Childcare 3 years (essential); Minimum level 3 qualification (essential); Management
