Full Job Description

The Little Haven Hotel is seeking a dedicated and reliable individual for the position of Night Porter. As a Night Porter, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety, security, and smooth operation of the hotel during the overnight hours. This position offers a competitive hourly rate and provides opportunities for both part-time and full-time employment.

Responsibilities:

Security and Guest Safety: Maintain a strong presence in the hotel lobby and public areas to ensure the safety and security of guests and the property during the night shift. Perform regular patrols and respond promptly to any suspicious activity or emergencies.

Front Desk Support: Assist guests with check-in and check-out processes during the night hours. Provide friendly and efficient customer service, answer inquiries, and handle guest requests or issues as they arise.

General Maintenance: Perform basic maintenance tasks such as changing light bulbs, handling minor repairs, and addressing any immediate issues or concerns that may arise during the night shift. Coordinate with appropriate departments for more complex maintenance needs.

Housekeeping Assistance: Support the housekeeping team by delivering extra towels, linens, or amenities to guest rooms as needed. Assist with laundry duties and maintaining cleanliness in public areas during the night hours.

Emergency Response: Act as the first point of contact and coordinate appropriate responses in case of emergencies such as fire alarms, medical incidents, or power outages. Follow established protocols and notify the necessary personnel as required.

Nightly Reports: Prepare and submit accurate and detailed reports of the night's activities, incidents, and any unusual occurrences to the management team.

  • Previous experience in a similar role, preferably in a hotel or hospitality environment, is desirable but not essential.

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to interact professionally and effectively with guests and colleagues.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills to handle unexpected situations calmly and efficiently.

  • Attention to detail and the ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced environment.

  • Basic computer skills and familiarity with hotel property management systems is a plus.

  • Flexibility to work night shifts, including weekends and holidays, based on a rotating schedule.

  • Ability to work independently and take initiative to ensure the smooth operation of the hotel during overnight hours.

  • Understanding of health and safety regulations and willingness to adhere to established procedures.
