Materials Controller (PUMA)

Location: Hull

The Role:

The Material Controller is directly responsible for the supply and storage of material in support of the Company's engineering activity associated with multidisciplinary maintenance work - this includes engineering materials, tools, consumables and hired plant.

Key Activities:

Activities include, but are not limited to the following (additional tasks may be given to the Material Controller at the discretion of the Maintenance Manager if deemed appropriate):

  • Maintaining registers of material stock and material in transit


  • Arranging statutory and other inspections of company owned and hired equipment


  • Setting stock levels for consumables, tools and safety equipment to support engineering activity.


  • Procuring materials and consumables to maintain required stocks or to satisfy call-off lists and one-off requirements


  • Utilise the Client's CMMS (SAP) for the electronic management of materials


  • Directing the activities of labourers, drivers, storekeepers and other workers involved in the control of materials


  • Ensuring that essential safety requirements are in place, and that rules and procedures are followed.


  • Ensuring that facilities are in place and used for the storage of any hazardous material, and that environmental protection and clean-up measures are in place.


  • Engage in internal audit programmes in support of the contract


  • Ability to work challenging timelines and have the agility to readily switch focus when priorities change


  • Demonstrate a pro-active approach to the role through the identification of improvement opportunities


  • Maintaining storage areas in an orderly and safe condition, ensuring that materials are stacked securely and that racking systems are fit for purpose and regularly inspected for defects


  • Experience Required:

    -Experience of material controlling duties within the Process, Oil & Gas, Plant or Power Generation industries
    -Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    -Experience working in a self-directed role.
    -Proactive and flexible work approach.
    -Worked within performance contracts before.
    -IT use (Microsoft Office package) and SAP

    Qualifications:

    Essential

    A Materials Controller will have qualifications appropriate to the materials or plant and equipment under his control. The Materials Controller should possess a Level 2 NVQ qualification in a related discipline, or will have previous experience in the Materials Controller or other supply based role.

    Preferred
