Atkins Search are currently recruiting for a Managing Quantity Surveyor vacancy to join an award-winning, regional construction main contractor based in Nottingham.

  • Role

    As the Managing Surveyor reporting into the Commercial Manager, you will be responsible for the delivery of multiple projects throughout the region across the education, healthcare, commercial, industrial and residential sectors with values ranging from £1m to £30m. These projects will be across the public and private sectors including local frameworks, so both NEC and JCT experience is desirable.

    Working alongside another Managing Quantity Surveyor, you will be managing and mentoring a commercial team of Quantity Surveyors at various points in their career ranging from Trainee Surveyor to Senior Surveyor levels.

    The successful Managing Surveyor will be operating in a trusted environment, managing your own diary to be on site or in the office as you see fit for the good of the team and wider business.

    Responsibilities
  • Financial reporting to senior management

  • Monitoring commercial progress of projects

  • Mentoring members of the commercial team at various levels

  • Implement and manage processes and structure to manage projects and team members

  • Work closely with Contracts Managers to contribute at programming and design stages

  • Produce CVRs and manage the team for applications for payment from sub-contractors, variations and preparation of final accounts

  • Contribute ideas and impart experience to help the business improve and develop


  • Person

    The ideal candidate for the Managing Quantity Surveyor job will have an established Surveying career working in a Tier 1 or regional construction main contracting environment. You will be operating in an autonomous manger, whilst working closely with your team to ensure projects are delivered on time and to budget whilst identifying opportunities to maximise profit.

    You will also need to be proactive, positive, and confident communicating at all levels and able to work as part of a close-knit team. As a key member of the Senior team, you will need to be knowledgeable and can find answers to achieve the best possible outcomes for your team and the wider business.
  • Degree in Quantity Surveying or Construction Management or comparable qualification

  • Excellent JCT and NEC knowledge

  • Experience working for a construction main contractor on D&B projects

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Excellent management and mentoring abilities

  • Positive, driven and team oriented attitude

  • Ability to operate autonomously and as part of wider teams across the business

  • Framework experience desirable but not essential

  • Current or previous Roles: Senior Quantity Surveyor OR Managing QS OR Lead Quantity Surveyor
