Full Job Description

In this role you will provide accounts support to the Financial Controller and the wider finance team. This will include managing subsidiaries of The Whisky Exchange as well as posting of documents for named entities and produce a full set of management accounts including cashflows. You will support the year-end process, the production of statutory accounts and the external audit. The role is also responsible for:

  • Monthly processing of refund from HMRC Customs for Duty drawback charges after calculating the output

  • Producing a calculation of: Purchase Retros, Sales out and Marketing Spend (Rebates from suppliers) ready for invoicing by Credit Control / Sales Ledger Team

  • Processing employees expenses via interface, ensuring the expenses adhere to the company's Travel & Expenses Policy, addressing any discrepancies with the Financial Controller and delegated authoriser

  • Posting of accounting documents into the accounting system; checking, coding, and posting supplier invoices into the accounting system

  • Performing bank (including merchant) reconciliations; performing monthly balance sheet account reconciliations; performing monthly inter-company account reconciliations where needed

  • Liaising with Financial Controller to produce management accounts, including accruals and prepayments, and report on performance to the Financial Planning and Commercial Team

  • Assist the Finance team with day-to-day transactional processing, bank payments and any other duties to ensure the smooth running of the department as directed by the Financial Controller for other entities across the group

  • Production of Quarterly VAT Returns

  • Desirable:
  • Whisky or premium spirits experience from retail or similar

  • Part-qualified studying towards a recognised professional accountancy qualification

  • Experience using an ERP finance system
