Full Job Description

We are looking for a competent counsellor who will work with individuals aged 18 and over who are female and male survivors of childhood sexual abuse and / or rape and sexual violence in adulthood. The service is available for those who are living, working or studying within the City of Sunderland and counselling may also be delivered to male survivors from elsewhere in the region.

The post holder will be expected to have completed specialised training in working with people impacted by rape and sexual violence and have a clear understand of how this impacts individual's psychological and emotional wellbeing.

Previous experience of assessing client need, as well as providing group work would also be desirable.

This is a part-time, permanent position. In order to meet client need, we are specifying the working hours of this post which will be 11.30am - 7.30pm two days per week across Monday, Tuesday and / or Thursday.

Whilst the post holder will be based in John Street in Sunderland, it is expected some of their time may also be spent in community and GP venues across the city to meet client need. It is possible this post may occasionally involve home working and therefore the post holder may be required to work confidentially from home.
