The Opportunity
In support of aligning and raising contract maintenance behaviours, standards and expectations across the Heysham 2 site there is a vacancy within the Maintenance Field Supervision Team for a full time Maintenance Technician / Field Supervisor. The role of Maintenance Technician / Field Supervisor covers the Management of Contractors Performing Work on Nuclear Power Station Sites.
You will be working flexibly within the team, adapting to the reactive environment of plant maintenance carried out by third party contractors. Duties will include promoting a strong Nuclear Safety focus through setting third party contractors to work, pre & post job briefing, planning contractor tasks in line with AP928 and the predefined planning milestones associated with the process.
The candidate will be expected to spend time in the field monitoring performance and reinforcing high standards in line with Safety & Quality best practice and station expectations. You will be liaising with Contract Managers through the inaugural process to manage safety and suitability to perform tasks on a nuclear site, engaging embedded contract partner Field Supervisors through the Field Supervisor Forum and pre-authorising new Field Supervisors in support of the Maintenance Manager.

What you'll be doing
As an EDF Maintenance Technician / Field Supervisor, your roles and responsibilities will include:

- Carrying out Start of Shift Briefs to contractors who are on site to work under your supervision.
- Completing Pre Job-Briefs with a focus on delivering a safe piece of work to a high quality, getting it right first time.
- Completing maintenance records in a timely manner to comply with Site Licence Condition 28.
- Ensuring that adequate time in the field is carried out to monitor and reinforce that high standards of safety and quality are being delivered by contractors under your supervision.
- Role Modelling the desired behaviours and culture expected of a Nuclear Professional.
- Communicating regularly with embedded contract partners to ensure a consistent standard across all work parties on site.
- Providing feedback to the Maintenance Manager on Field Supervision standards and quality standards within contract organisations.
- Engaging with the station planning process (AP928) at predefined milestones to ensure a workable plan is available at execution.
- Reporting safety, environmental and plant issues in a timely manner using station CR process.
- Providing feedback both internally and to the contract partners on the plant and maintenance activities to improve the effectiveness of the maintenance programme.
- Actively participating in personal performance appraisals, taking ownership of delivering personal development plans

Who you are
Personally, you'll be self-motivated and able to demonstrate strong leadership qualities. Ideally, you'll be confident in your abilities to communicate with unfamiliar people and be able coach and mentor contractors under your supervision to the standard required at a Nuclear Site.
As a minimum, entrants will be educated to HNC Standard or actively working towards achieving a HNC (or equivalent) and practical City & Guilds/NVQ level 3 qualification (or equivalent) in a maintenance discipline.

Applicants will be required to obtain CTC level vetting prior to taking up their duties.
To be appointed to this role, you will need to meet the criteria for Security Vetting which will, ordinarily, require you to have been a resident of the UK for at least 3 of the last 5 years.
