The successful post holder will be a named key worker with the expectation to work collaboratively with others to develop and use appropriate strategies and opportunities to share knowledge with, deliver interventions and influence the practice of colleagues with the Haemato-Oncology service.
The role of the Macmillan Haematology Clinical Nurse Specialist is to be a dedicated key worker to adult patients diagnosed with a haematological cancer, coordinating care between secondary and primary care, between secondary and tertiary centres and providing continuity over time.

To contribute to our exciting future and become part of our team, apply today., The Macmillan Acute Oncology Clinical Nurse Specialist will be a member of Acute Oncology Medway Service working closely with two Medical Oncology Consultants, two Band 7 AOS and CUP CNSs and the AO coordinator.
The post holder will undertake a rotation with the two AOS CNSs already in post, to provide weekend and Bank Holiday cover for the development of a 7 day Assessment and Advice Service for cancer patients presenting or admitted at Medway Maritime Hospital.
The post holder will undertake clinical responsibilities providing an initial expert assessment and advice on the management of patients presenting with oncological emergencies such as MSCC, Neutropenic Sepsis, hypercalcaemia and other, facilitating appropriate investigations, treatment plan and a speedy referral to the appropriate team, reassuring safe and best quality of care from admission to discharge.
The post holder will undertake daily ward rounds alongside the Oncology Consultant or independently, reassuring oncological plans are in place and are followed efficiently, for all patients admitted with side effects from Systemic Anticancer Treatment (SACT), progression of disease from cancer or while on the diagnostic pathway.
The Macmillan Acute Oncology Clinical Nurse Specialist will liaise with all appropriate medical and specialist teams, Palliative Care team, Radiology, Pathology, Site Specific MDTs and will work in close relationship with KOC Oncology Consultants.
The post holder will be a member of CUP MDT, facilitating the MUO (Malignancy of undefined origin) pathway and will undertake Key Worker responsibilities for confirmed CUP patients.
