Full Job Description
To support the classroom teachers in teaching and learning. Be prepared to support in all age groups including nursery, reception, key stage one and key stage two and occasionally cover classes in the Prep school.

Key Tasks
Under the direction of the class teacher or Head of Prep School:
1. To undertake activities with either individuals or groups of children to ensure
their health and safety, well-being and facilitate their physical, emotional and educational development.
2. To promote and reinforce the children's self esteem and encourage positive
attitudes and social interaction.
3. To prepare teaching materials and assist with displays.
4. To work with individuals or groups of children (as directed by the class teachers or Head of Prep School) to aid their progress.
5. To monitor individual children's needs and report this to the designated
teacher as appropriate.
6. To follow the school's safeguarding policy.
7. To assist the class teacher in the planning of work programmes for
individuals and groups of children and developing extended activities.
8. To accompany children off the school premises as directed by the class teachers,
but in the presence of a teacher.
9. To assist with playtime supervision at breaks and dinnertimes, facilitating and organising games and activities.
10. To implement the Abbotsholme Behaviour Policy, to keep accurate records and communicate any concerns with staff.
11. To support and organise activities for small groups of children during activity time (4-5pm).
12. To use IT equipment to support and record children's learning. Training on using these systems will be provided. Teaching assistants will use an iPad to take photographs during activities and liaise with teachers to use them for display, teaching and learning, communication with parents or marketing.
13. To assist and support children during Carousel and outdoor activities such as farm, equestrian and outdoor education.
14. To support children on Hikes, Camps and trips to supervise and facilitate children's learning.
15. To occasionally cover classes in the Prep school under the direction of the class teacher or Head of Prep.
16. To attend relevant meetings as required, to participate in training, other learning activities and performance management.
17. To undertake any additional duties which may be allocated by the Head of Prep School after consultation with the postholder, thus contributing to the overall values, ethos and work of the school.
