Full Job Description

  • Leading and being responsible for all aspects of their department.

  • The safety of all Personnel, Customers, Visitors and Contractors whilst on site is of the utmost importance, ensuring all interactions are safe and effective.

  • Working with other internal departments and stakeholders to ensure agreed KPIs and standards are achieved, prioritising customer experience, improving stock integrity and meeting SLAs.

  • Accountability for aligning operational objectives and business needs, setting expectations for the department to ensure goals are achieved to the highest standard, and breeding a continuous improvement culture.

  • At times the HOD will be the most senior leader on site and required to manage all staff and make critical decisions regarding site operations.

  • Responsibility for departmental CPU in line with Site Budget forecast and resource planning to ensure departmental CPU is achieved.

  • Managing large teams effectively, nurturing growth and development of both people and Site Operations.

  • Managing very complex HR cases and dealing with escalated people and site issues.

  • Managing clients in all forms of communication including facilitating face-to-face meetings.

  • When the Site Lead is not on site, the HOD will be the POC for all people's issues, incidents and fire evacuations.

    English GCSE and Maths GCSE / equivalent international standards Degree

  • Training IOSH certification - preferred.

  • Formal management training

  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt Certified - preferred.

  • Excellent understanding of Health & Safety and HR processes

  • Ability to make decisions regarding Safety, Quality, Cost, Delivery & People, that will significantly impact both the Site and the Business.

  • Excellent communication skills and ability to drive culture.

  • Advanced data and problem analysis and ability to solve problems and make decisions under pressure.

  • Capable of instigating and delivering change through both people and the environment.

  • Extensive experience with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS)

  • Excellent understanding of HR systems, e.g. Oracle, ADP, Workforce

  • Ability to navigate Intranet, EQMS, Site / Local portals, and Microsoft forms.

  • Advanced Microsoft skills, ability to understand, manipulate and present large data sets.
