Job Summary: The Group Head of Health and Safety will be responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing the health and safety policies and procedures for multiple sites across the group. This is a newly created role with the scope to evolve and drive positive change. Playing a crucial part in ensuring the well-being of our employees, clients, and the communities in which we operate. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of health and safety regulations, a proven track record of implementing successful safety programs, and the ability to lead and inspire The Airedale Group to a best in class Health and Safety strategy.,

  • Engage with stakeholders to gather information and review current business processes.

  • Working collaboratively with all departments to integrate safety practices into daily operations.

  • Develop and implement comprehensive health and safety policies, procedures, and programs for the entire organisation.

  • Develop a strategic roadmap that will ensure best in class H&S practices across the group.

  • Conduct regular risk assessments and ensure the implementation of effective control measures.

  • Identify and report safety performance trends, working with relevant internal stakeholders to develop improvement plans.

  • Provide leadership and direction to a team of safety professionals, ensuring a consistent and proactive approach to health and safety.

  • Conduct training sessions to educate employees on safety policies, procedures, and best practices.

  • Investigate incidents, accidents, and near misses, and implement corrective actions to prevent future occurrences.

  • Stay abreast of industry trends, regulations, and best practices to continuously improve the company's safety programs.

  • Define and embed a safety culture across all levels of the business.

  • Create a training matrix, that will ensure all employees attend relevant training sessions and understand the correct policies and procedures to follow., This is a new position reflecting the extraordinary growth in the business over the past couple of years and offers an exciting opportunity to make a significant impact to Group profitability & efficiency. The Group employs 600+ people across multiple locations in the UK and offers significant scope for future progression.

  • NEBOSH qualified as a minimum.

  • NEBOSH Diploma would be advantageous.

  • Professional membership to IOSH or APS is desirable.

  • A minimum of 3 years' experience in a lead Health and Safety role.

  • Previous experience in a multi-site role.

  • Experience in conducting safety audits, inspections, and incident investigations.

  • A proactive and strong communicator with the ability to engage stakeholders and influence change.
