Full Job Description

The Senior Financial Analyst is responsible for assisting Finance management with the preparation of profitability analysis, headcount (FTE) reporting, client/matter modeling in relation to client budget requests and matter staffing and management, Alternative Fee Arrangements (AFA) and other ad hoc requests. This role will focus primarily on requests from the European and Asia offices but will also work closely with the US-located analytics team on all Firmwide initiatives. They will need to develop a working knowledge of the 3E billing system, our financial dashboards and our analytics tools (cube, Power BI). This individual will be required to collaborate across all levels of Firm personnel, including Partners, and various administrative departments, including different groups within Accounting.
Responsibilities/Duties

  • Assist with detailed profitability analyses of the Europe and Asia groups, including monthly, quarterly and year-over-year comparisons, identifying trends and making recommendations for action

  • Develop monthly profitability packages for the Europe and Asia group leaders, with focus on KPI's such as hours, leverage and expenses

  • Create monthly and ad-hoc client/matter profitability analyses, including break-even analyses

  • Ensure proper compilation of timekeeper cost rates and reconciliation across all Finance systems

  • Use financial analytics tools to create models to assist in building out pricing database to improve matter budgeting

  • Assist with various Firmwide initiatives, including revenue projections, the partner promotion review process and the annual business planning process

  • Assist in review of headcount (FTE) reporting to office managers to ensure proper coding

  • Build relationships with partner and business leaders within the Europe and Asia offices to ensure appropriate support of strategic initiatives

  • Work closely with other groups within Accounting (Billing, Rates & Compliance) on analysis of pricing arrangements in RFP process, fee agreement approval review, etc.

  • Assist with development and implementation of process improvements

  • Adheres to Firm policy and procedures, escalating issues when appropriate

  • Assist with special projects and other duties as assigned

    Minimum of five years of financial analysis experience in legal or related field

  • Demonstrate flexibility and initiative with respect to handling multiple projects and shifting priorities

  • Ability to work well independently as well as effectively within a Global team

  • Ability to effectively present information verbally and in writing

  • Basic math skills: addition, subtraction, multiplication, division

  • Proficiency in MS Excel and Word, with the ability to learn new software and operating systems

  • Working knowledge of basic compliance and internal control requirements
