Full Job Description

  • Responsibility for accurate and timely completion and filing of certain statutory accounts within the UK portfolio. Currently this role looks after 8 legal entities.

  • Supporting month, quarter and year end processes for selected legal entities linked to the statutory responsibilities.

  • Significant responsibility and involvement in corporation tax, VAT review and general tax compliance

  • Ensure accuracy and timely financial information generated in the Region, both for US GAAP books and for local GAAP / Statutory books.

  • Working closely with the members of the Fin Ops COE in Belgium, ESSC in Poland, BP&A organisation and UK Finance Manager to carry out all necessary work to achieve sign off on the US GAAP monthly close.

  • Reviewing month end financials within local finance supported by the BP&A team, Identify and analyse key performance variances, investigate and document root causes and future impacts; understand performance and identify any anomalies that require correction.

  • Identify any accounting errors and mis postings and prepare journal vouchers to correct where necessary.

  • Work with team on trial balance trend analysis reports and review to provide a good comfort level on the financials being reported.

  • Support with internal audit recommendations and mitigations

  • Ensure strong compliance to BD Policies and local tax matters and support a robust internal control environment.

  • Support team with timely and accurate balance sheet reconciliations uploaded to the Blackline system.

  • Work within wider EFCOE team on key projects

  • External relationships: Work with BDO to prepare the local statutory accounts & liaise with Ernst & Young for all audit and control related items during the annual external audit.

    Educated to degree level and recognised Accounting qualification.

  • At least 1 year's post-qualification experience, ideally within the medical device or pharmaceutical industry

  • Experience of a complex matrix organisation would be advantageous.

  • Strong technical (practice based) background covering statutory and tax elements.

  • Experience and interest in business tax compliance as this will become a key component in the role in the future

  • Experience of working with Shared Service Centers/Centers of Excellence also advantageous

  • Solid knowledge of both US GAAP and UK GAAP

  • Systems: ERP (preferably SAP and JDE) and BPC & High level user of Microsoft packages (especially Excel)
