Full Job Description

Reporting to the Financial Accountant, the Finance Officer will be responsible for producing and providing routine financial monitoring information, support and advice to budget holders and other colleagues within the Charity.

The person will:

  • Process purchase ledger transactions, matching invoices to live purchase orders, reconciling supplier statements and processing timely payments.

  • Allocate BACS payments and direct debits against invoices in the accounting system and reconciling to the bank statements.

  • Liaise with The Leeds Teaching Hospitals Finance team and colleagues to reconcile and pay specific scheme payments; and liaise with the funding team regarding the commitment balances.

  • Ensure purchase orders are approved enabling invoices to be posted in a timely manner.

  • Manage Creditors Ledger electronic filing and record keeping systems, ensure records are up-to-date to facilitate audit processes.

    Minimum of 2 years experience providing financial and regulatory information and advice to senior finance staff, managers and others.

  • Have working knowledge of finance ledgers and of day to day finance office duties including entry of Sales Ledger and Purchase Ledger transactions.

  • Be knowledgeable in accounting and audit practice, particularly finance policies and procedures relevant to the post and ensure adherence to all.

  • Be proficient in the following processes: cash management, year end procedures and requirements, Standing Financial Instructions and HMRC regulations.

  • Be proficient and have proven experience using a variety of IT applications.

  • Have excellent organisational and communication skills and be able to motivate themselves while working at home.
