Full Job Description

  • Hours: 30 per week part time - Agile, supporting autonomy over working days and start and finish time. All team members must work flexibly on occasions to meet the needs of the charity and the people we support. This role will require occasional evening and weekend work

  • Contract: 2 years fixed term (with the possibility of extension should funding be in place), Cyfannol delivers needs-led and person-centred support to people, with a particular focus on women and children, who have experienced any form of Violence Against Women, Domestic Abuse or Sexual Violence (VAWDASV). As a person-led organisation, the experiences and opinions of people with lived experience are of the utmost importance to maintain and develop our services and inform our communications with funders and key stakeholders. The role of the Engagement Officer would be to coordinate opportunities for the people we support to share their experiences, ensure their voices are central to all relevant funding applications, reports and ongoing practices, and support community engagement through awareness raising, representing Cyfannol at external events and developing links within local communities.


  • Purpose of post:

    You will lead on coordinating opportunities for the people that we support or have supported to contribute their expert voices to the organisation. As a person-led organisation, the experiences and opinions of people with lived experience are of the utmost importance to maintain and develop our services and inform our communications with funders and key stakeholders.

    You will support in ensuring that the experiences of the people that we support/have supported are contributed towards all relevant funding applications, reports and ongoing practices.

    You will support community engagement through awareness raising, representing Cyfannol at external events and developing links within local communities.

    Specific Responsibilities:
  • Manage the planning, coordinating and facilitation of meetings, engagement opportunities and focus groups with people that we support/have supported, ensuring a trauma-informed approach, to learn from their:

  • + Lived experiences with VAWDASV (Violence against Women, Domestic Abuse and Sexual Violence)
    + Experiences with Statutory Services
    + Experiences with Cyfannol Women's Aid
  • Manage the development and promotion of Cyfannol's Participation Group and lead on its administration

  • Provide safe, welcoming and non-judgemental spaces and opportunities for women's voices to be heard and formally recognise their contributions in appropriate ways

  • Provide a needs-led and person-centred response to group members, signposting to further support as appropriate

  • Contribute to the continued development of evaluation and feedback methods as well as ongoing training where appropriate

  • Contribute to all relevant funding applications, delivery plans and funder reports, ensuring the voices of the people we support are central

  • Contribute to our ambition that the voices of those we support are continuously heard throughout Cyfannol and that their experiences, needs and opinions shape services and key decisions

  • Provide opportunities to share feedback with wider stakeholders, being a key collaborator in the ongoing improvement of Women's services

    Be a key collaborator in the representation of Cyfannol at external events, raising awareness of our support services and promoting engagement with VAWDASV campaigns and initiatives

    Manage the development of links within the local community through awareness-raising activities and presentations

    Be a key collaborator in developing and building on approaches to increase awareness of VAWDASV services and break down barriers to seeking support, alongside both internal and external colleagues.
