Full Job Description

Donations and recycling handler based at Llys Nini Animal Centre, Penllergaer, Swansea. Required to work 28 hours per week, working weekends and bank holidays on a rota basis., · Receive the incoming donations from the public arriving at the Centre to ensure all donations are appropriate for resale.

· Assisting the driver to load stock for the delivery of stock to the shops as per worklists provided.

· Sort, collect, organise and dispose of recyclables promptly, recycling through the approved channels.

· Have a good understanding of retail business disciplines including customer services, cash handling and stock processing and display.

· Work with volunteers to assist at the handling centre - guiding them and developing them for their individual needs.

· Working closely with the Area Shop Manager and Community/Fundraising teams, to ensure the stock is generated and moved quickly to the shops as are their needs.

· Ensure Gift Aid opportunities are exploited.

· Optimise the storage of stock at a number of locations.

· Assist with the occasional retail activities eg a "pop up shop", rummage/car boot sales on a monthly /quarterly basis, or during events activities held at the centre.

· Keep work areas clean and tidy, maintain standards to a safe Health & Safety levels.

· Research, review and expand opportunities for recycling/income generation of items and materials not currently recycled.

· Previous shop retail experience desirable. (Training will be provided to convert from retail experience to charity retail);

· Good organisation and time management skills;

· Good communication and interpersonal skills;

· Good time keeping and problem solving skills;

· Good attention to detail and record keeping;

· Ability to use some Microsoft Office software such as Word and Excel;

· Team player;

· Experience working with volunteers is desirable;

· Fluent Welsh speaker preferred;

· Empathy towards the Charity's aims and objectives;

Please note - This position is a physical role and requires somebody that is able to stand for much of the day and deal with some heavy lifting.
