Job Purpose

This is an opportunity to join a fast moving and energetic Strategy, Marketing and Communications Department who are working towards thelaunch of Auckland Castle, a new multi-million pound visitor destination, (as outlined above). The Digital Marketing Manager is a new post with overall responsibility for the development, management and implementation of the digital marketing strategy for the organisation.

Auckland Castle has an expected footfall of in excess of 190,000 by 2020; the Digital Marketing Manager will be responsible for achieving maximum online profile for a series of major project openings from 2017-2019, they will help drive online sales and broaden awareness of Auckland Castle’s missions and purpose, delivering the brand ambitions and online revenue targets.

With budgetary responsibility they will develop and manage the online marketing budget, ensuring all activity deliver to an agreed set of KPIs. They will manage the Digital Marketing Assistance and a range of third party supplier relationships including brand, design and digital development agencies.

The Digital Manager will work across all of the Trusts digital platforms including the creation of a new organisation website including online ticketing. They will led on a new social media and e-comms approach responding to the needs of a complex and multi-facetted offer. There will be opportunities to work with other in-house and external teams on the creation of digital experience guides as well as commissioning of content which can be used across all platforms.

We are looking for a dynamic and informed Digital Marketing Manager who can bring industry best practices and knowledge of the latest communications products and systems to Auckland Castle. They must have experience of developing new optimised and integrated digital marketing platforms, working with development agencies and managing work flows. Be proficient in monitoring and responding to data analysis and Content Management Systems. Have experience of delivering targeted digital advertising campaigns.

Key Outputs and Accountabilities

  • To lead on the development of an ACT digital strategy for 3-5 years.
  • Manage the recruitment of all digital agencies, writing briefs, making supplier recommendations.
  • Lead on the development of a major new digital platform (website) for ACT to be complete for the re-opening of Auckland Castle in May 2018, ensuring excellent SEO
  • Deliver the digital launch of Auckland Castle new brand identity in 2018.
  • Lead the recruitment for and manage the Digital Marketing Assistant
  • Advise the organisation on new advances in digital marketing and visitor experience
  • Work with the curatorial and visitor services departments on the development of a handheld interpretation guide for Auckland Castle and the Faith Museum and digital orientation tools.
  • Develop an appropriate approach to ACT’s social media in response to the develop of a broad product and audience range
  • Develop of all of ACT’s e-communications recommending software, working with digital templates, managing schedules and content
  • Work closely with IT and all destination delivery teams including visitor services, operations and curatorial to support their digital needs
  • Manage the day to day relationships of all digital marketing suppliers: development agencies, graphic designers, copywriters etc.
  • Oversee and maximise user engagement on the website and other digital platforms including mobile devices
  • Contribute to the development of new database facilities and other administrative resources such as CRM used by the Communications Team
  • Contribute to the planning and approach for targeted digital marketing and promotions utilising paid search and PPC.
  • Design and implement initiatives to encourage data capture
  • Lead on the collection of analytics and data capture from all digital platforms, and manage digital testing and trials of marketing approaches
  • Assist with the setting of targets, goals and achievement for ACT’s digital engagement
  • Manage the content for all onsite digital advertising sites
  • Contribute to the planning and delivery of creating digital assets such as film and photography to be used across ACT’s digital offer
  • Manage all budgets relating to digital marketing activity

Preferably 3 years + digital marketing experience preferably for a destination organisation

Understanding of coding

Experience of analytic tools, evaluation and dissemination

Experience of commissioning digital developers

Experience of successful digital advertising campaigns

Driving License
