DevOps Engineer

As a Barclays DevOps Engineer, you'll work within the Developer Services Platform Engineering (DSPE) Classic Toolchain function. This is an exciting role, to provide technical product ownership for all the Classic DevOps Tooling and to maintain and improve the tool offerings to our internal customers, working collaboratively with Platform, Enablement, Security and Change Management teams. You'll also be ensuring we have the appropriate tools, technology and processes to support colleagues and the engineering across our global Technology teams., At Barclays, we offer a hybrid working experience that blends the positives of working alongside colleagues at our onsite locations, together with working from home. We have a structured approach where colleagues work at an onsite location on fixed, 'anchor', days of the week, for a minimum of two days a week or more, as set by the business area (or nearest equivalent if working part-time hours). What will you be doing?

• Acting as a Technical Product Owner for the existing DSPE Classic Toolchain, such as Bitbucket, Nexus, GitLab, Jenkins, Teamcity, Jira to ensure these tools are optimally configured /maintained


• Improvising the Technical architecture of the product, how it is deployed, working closely with Enablement team leads


• Working closely with other peer teams overseeing Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) function and other functions across DSPE Toolchain, Service Management and peer platform


• Leveraging expertise in IaC methodologies to transform existing tool configurations into code and take initiatives to codify the Infrastructure


• Identifying and implementing improvements to our Classic Toolchain and Processes, enhance resilience, reliability, and performance, reducing manual overhead


• Leading the deployment of new versions of software and configurations across environments using automated pipelines and take charge of the Evergreening process for our toolchain


• Contributing to the strategic planning of Infrastructure and operations initiatives as required


• Evaluating new tools and technologies, proposing adaptations that align with our goals for efficiency and stability
  
  Experience of DevOps Tooling such as Jenkins, GitLab, Nexus, CI/CD


• Hands on experience with AWS for application hosting


• Solid experience with Infrastructure-as-Code, Terraform, Chef


• Proficient developing in a major programming language such as Java, Python


Skills that will help you in the role:
