Full Job Description

As a Band 7PaediatricSpeech and Language Therapist within special schools, you willbe responsible forthe planning and management of your own complex caseload and service delivery using an impact-based model of clinical decision making. You will also actively contribute to service development and provide supervision and support to speech and language therapists in special schools, specialist resources and mainstream schools.

This role ispart time (26.25 hours per week)- flexible working options, such as term time only or annualised hours will be considered. You willbasedatErleghHouse (University of Reading) and willhave protectedclinical time in one special school (to bedeterminedfollowing interview). This role will also include travelling to other schools and specialist resources in Berkshire West to support clinicians with complex cases where appropriate. During theholidays;some time is protected to complete clinics for children without EHCPs.

  • To manage a caseload of complex children within special schools andspecialistresources.


  • To undertake specialist clinical assessment and treatment of children and young people (CYP) who have complexcommunication needsand/or support other clinicians to do this.


  • To contribute to the development of service provision within their area of specialism alongside the CYPF operational team leads and professional leads. This includes ensuring best practice across the area of speciality and the service within CYPF.
