Full Job Description

  • Manage contracts within a portfolio, effectively utilising identified resources to ensure they meet or exceed both service delivery and budgetary targets and the requirements in terms of

  • Contract Profitability

  • Create a work environment that is safe, open and honest, stimulating, promotes equality of employment, reward and celebrates successes and constructively learns from its mistakes.

  • Prepare realistic but challenging annual budgets for Contract Portfolio.

  • Manage actual performance against plan to ensure achievement of annual budget, taking appropriate action where necessary. Using published P&L's.

  • Ensures open financial and management reporting, ensuring any potential problems are identified early; and therefore allowing corrective action to be put in place.

  • Promotes the Veolia Quality Management approach (ISO standards) and makes sure it is seen as a tool for continuous improvement and a way of formally capturing & sharing 'best practice'.

  • Encourage the team to regularly review processes, policies and procedures to ensure that they are responsive to changing business requirements, reflect best practice and are appropriate & practical, submitting 'Opportunity for Improvements' where appropriate.

  • Ensure a safe working environment, through the pro-active management of Safety, Health and Environment, complying with all legislative, company and client policies, processes and procedures.

  • Ensure the provision of appropriate resources (Training, PPE, Documentation, Equipment etc.) to ensure compliance to the above.

  • Ensuring team are competent and actually carry out risk assessments either written or mentally, depending on the situation, for own and others' safety

  • Encourages team to actively identify and report hazards/ near misses/ accidents.

  • Targets new opportunities/ additional works, both for their Contract Portfolio, NW region and the wider Veolia business , through regular contact with existing customers, supporting the business development team in 'closing the deal' with the customer.

  • Understands & promotes the capabilities of Veolia, in a way that reinforces both the Veolia business 'brand'.

  • Maximises the level of business from a client through integrating themselves into the philosophy & culture of the customer and having an awareness of their business drivers. Thus enabling them to identify and secure additional work or new opportunities, successful re-negotiations of Contract for either their Contract Portfolio or the wider Veolia.


  • Customer Relationship Management
  • Maintains regular contact with the customers to ensure continued satisfaction, identifying potential problems early giving the necessary management direction and support to resolve such issues

  • Understands clients culture, needs, business drivers and and expectations, establishing close working relationships with key stakeholders within these organisations

  • Carry out Monthly Client service reviews to explain monthly invoice and environmental reports and review and resolve any operational and/or contractual issues

  • Seek out and deliver innovative solutions to existing customers and support each with a STP document and track all improvements within an innovation tracker . To enhance the customers perception in terms of Veolia bringing both added value and best practice


  • Contract Delivery
  • Ensures the organisation discharges all it's obligations as defined in the Contract/ Service Agreement, through:-

  • Understand the scope of services/ delivery as defined in the contract and communicating these to the appropriate employees

  • Highlighting and evaluating risks and liabilities, and making contingencies.

  • Establishing & Reviewing Performance Targets (i.e. KPI's)

  • Undertaken regular Client Service Reviews

  • Producing informative, quality and timely customer reports, which are focused on meeting their needs.

  • Producing informative, quality and timely internal reports, which enable the company to discharge its corporate responsibilities.

    Educated to degree level in a Science, Engineering or Environmental subject

  • Experience within the waste industry

  • IOSH Certification

  • The ability to lead a high performing team

  • Previous experience dealing with financial performance
