Requiredto fill this replacement post within the Gynaecology Department at St Jamess UniversityHospital.

The postholder willsupport a Consultant led tertiary team offering an evidence based outpatient,ambulatory and laparoscopic urogynaecological service.

We run a weeklyUrogynaecological MDTs and a monthly Combined Pelvic floor MDT and clinic withour colorectal and urological colleagues.

Thesuccessful applicant will have fantastic opportunities to help further developall aspects of the urogynaecology service including advanced urogynaecological surgery.

Since introducing vNOTES in 2022, Leeds Teaching hospitals NHS trust has deliveredthe second highest number of cases in the country and looks set to develop andadvance this service further.

We enjoyactive research links with Leeds University. The unit trains both UrogynaecologyATSM trainees and holds a shared Urogynaecology Subspecialty training post withHull Royal Infirmary.

We need an enthusiastic individual to lead in thisspecialist area, to work alongside the existing gynaecologists and help to supporta growing team of advanced nurse practitioners.

Main duties of the job

Thesuccessful applicant should possess MRCOG (or equivalent) and should beincluded on the Specialist Register or within 6 months of CCT at the time ofinterview, if currently within a training programme within the UK.

In accordance with the consultant appointmentregulations, all other categories of doctors must be on the SpecialistRegister., This is a 10 PAappointment for a Consultant urogynaecologist with subspecialty or equivalentqualification and expertise.

Applicants should haveestablished skills in gynaecology and its related specialties including urogynaecology. A strong commitment to undergraduate andpostgraduate teaching and a research interest is desirable., Management & Interpersonal Skills.

  • Qualifications

    Essential

    The appointee must hold the MRCOG, or equivalent. They should have completed either subspecialty training in Urogynaecology or have equivalent experience.

    Newly trained doctors should have completed ATSMs in at least two areas preferably Urogynaecology and Vaginal Surgery and Open and laparoscopic and Advanced Laparoscopic Surgery for the excision of benign disease.
  • Applicants must provide information regarding their status from the GMC and / or relevant Royal College at the time of applications, in order for their application to be progressed further.

  • Eligible for full registration with the GMC at time of appointment and hold a current licence to practice. YOUR GMC NUMBER MUST BE STATED ON YOUR APPLICATION FORM TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THE ROLE.

    Training, Research, Teaching & Audit

    Essential
  • Should have completed a recognised training programme in ATSMs in at least two areas preferably Benign Abdominal Surgery : open and laparoscopic and Urogynaecology and Vaginal Surgery.

  • Evidence of the ability to carry out medical research.

  • Experience in training undergraduate medical students and postgraduate doctors.

  • Experience of participation in regular clinical audit.

  • Previous experience of supervising research by junior staff.

  • Previous attendance on Appraisal Techniques and Small Group Teaching Workshops.

    Essential
  • Must be able to demonstrate a high level of clinical experience and competence in both general and uro-gynaecology and should be able to care for women with acute gynaecological illnesses independently.

  • Evidence of continuous career progression consistent with personal circumstances.


  • Desirable
  • Training to a high level in minimal access techniques, in particular laparoscopic skills, is desirable. and candidates should be able to demonstrate expertise in this area prior to interview.

  • Training in vNOTES (vaginal natural orifice transluminal endoscopic surgery) is desirable.
