Full Job Description

This is a varied Communications Manager role that will work across the Communications function to help shape how we tell the story of the Motability Foundation's work as well as providing Communications support for our grant-giving activities, working to support both our Brand and Marketing and Press and PR teams.
What you will be doing:

  • Lead on creating products and formats for regularly sharing our impact reporting, and support with re-modelling our annual report and accounts.

  • Contribute to corporate communications activities such as our Annual General Meeting (AGM).

  • Support the development and delivery of our editorial themes, keeping key messages and statistics up to date.

  • Lead on messaging projects as required.

  • Support the development of our external profile as required, for example by entering awards.

  • Work alongside our Charitable Operations team on various projects to enhance the digital experience of our beneficiaries through both the online applications system and the Motability website.

  • Work alongside colleagues around the business to identify ways in which we can continuously improve our beneficiary experience, specifically to achieve our aim of amplifying the voices of disabled people, seeking views and insight from disabled people in relation to our grant-making., At Motability Foundation we fund, support, research and innovate so that all disabled people can make the journeys they choose. We oversee the Motability Foundation Scheme and provide grants to help people use it, providing access to transport to hundreds of thousands of people a year.


  • We award grants to other charities and organisations who provide different types of transport, or work towards making transport accessible. We also carry out ongoing research, in partnership with disabled people and key stakeholders in the industry, to inspire innovations that continue to champion accessible transport for all.

    Must haves:
  • Strong communication skills, with an ability to grasp complex issues quickly and share information in an accessible way across a variety of audiences.

  • Experience of creating compelling narratives and clear key messages to position an organisation's work through different communications channels.

  • Experience of working with teams to create designed content for external channels, from impact reports to videos.

  • Strong judgement and the ability to respond quickly, yet thoughtfully to urgent matters.

  • Pro-active and solution driven with a strong sense of responsibility.

  • Experience of working with other project teams and as part of a cross-functional communications team.

  • Experience of operating effectively in a complex environment with strong stakeholder management skills to work across multiple communications projects.
